In all seriousness, is third or fourth rail electrification for Amersham-Aylesbury, along with either Chiltern's tracks from there into Marylebone or handing Aylesbury via Amersham services back to the Met, realistic? (Apologies.....this has probably been done to death already.....)

When I did station work whilst at Royal Mail in the early nineties, I recall hearing tales about the brutes, and being warned to be very careful if we had to move one for some reason. As someone here said, just push, don't pull... I remember them being rather awkward to move when I did try...

I remember a proposal, maybe in the 90s, to turn the Bitterne line and the Gosport branch, together, into a high frequency tram or whatever route, extending from Gosport over or under the water to Portsmouth. It would also have run over the direct road bridge in Southampton, avoiding that dog...

As you say, the bus from Reading to Wallingford is only hourly on Sundays, half hourly other days. Still good though compared with a lot of places.. However, the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway is running that day, in fact Friday to Sunday according to their website is their Bunkfest...
