UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

My rate is currently 6.6p per kWh for car charging. Max 6 hours at that rate using smart charger, which would be overkill for the battery in the Smart. I could charge from 0% each night and still be finished before the time limit was reached.

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

I really think the only way to fix the problem is have Kings Lynn trains shuttling to/from Cambridge and then try and make it easy to connect to other services south - including the original Cambridge Cruiser, the semi-fast train to Brighton, or the stopper to KGX. No splits and joins, and no...

“Better WiFi for hundreds of trains under government plans“

For some time now the Wi-Fi I've used (when I can't use my own phone) has just asked for an email address. I don't bother with the ones that give free Wi-Fi with me having to log in via a social media service, or even ones that have had the cheek to ask you to rate them or give a review (in the...

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

Oh, so no KKKK just KKK then. I'm still mourning the loss of lives in the Bowling Green massacre so wasn't thinking straight.

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

Don't forget Kellyanne Conway. He obviously likes the letter K. I think he made a big mistake making Karoline Leavitt stay on a plane Trump thought might get blown up. She resigned two days later! She was a professional liar and, to be honest, really good at it. The new one, erm, isn't -...

That's excellent. Quite likely it could manage that or more if used in town at low speeds (especially 20mph zones).

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Our chosen charity will look through what we (and others) bring and apologise for it, but I get that they have to say no to certain things. We're never offended as even items I think they could sell aren't always what they want to sell. I bet they get angry people though who wanted them to take...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

On the top image, there was plenty of room to have the accessible toilet underneath, like the bottom image, removing any ambiguity.

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

Sorry, if isn't. Meant to say the displays are fully working now (after previously pointing out various issues).

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

The good thing about a small car with a smaller battery is that the 20 minute charge will be cheaper than a 20 minute charge on a larger car with a huge battery needing more power. It's often forgotten or not considered. These huge EVs with 100kWh batteries to add range, often at the expense of...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Not convinced about all the signs, especially the ones on the side of the building that have no border and no feeling of authority. They look like the sort of sign you'd expect if someone in an office had to quickly produce something in Word and print it out and laminate - just bigger. If you...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

It's now a joint venture. Despite Geely's involvement, there are distinct differences between a Smart car and, say, the Volvo version built on the same platform. It's not like Stellantis where you'd expect to see loads of components shared. It will be interesting to see if Geely makes any other...

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

As an update on the new Uno EV buses, I've just been on one that is fully working. Colour monitor, screen at the front (looking in) and a screen in the middle (facing front). The colour monitor is also showing ads (silent) - currently for army cadets - and the other information is nicely...

“Better WiFi for hundreds of trains under government plans“

One SIM that roams is a terrible solution though. Hardware will seek to stay on the same network for as long as it can, and it will be measuring signal strength or quality - but not the speeds available, which will vary loads bases on the number of bands available and the capacity of each of...
