Evening GWR trains (after about 8pm) haven't called at Cosham for a good while now - I think this was due to local vandalism issues.
Three weekday off-peak GWR trains in each direction no longer call at Cosham to improve the punctuality / reliability of these services. This was done initially...
This kicks in at the beginning of October 2026, is scheduled to finish on Sunday 3 January 2027, and is, indeed, due to the Dolphin Junction replacement.
Annoyingly, it causes lots of Class 1s to be retimed by up to 3 minutes too, (as you will see if you look in the current GWR timetable PDFs)...
Does this now fill all the remaining gaps to give Liverpool two trains per hour to London Euston all day? A mere 4 years after the date Avanti promised them?
Liverpool to Cardiff was a franchise commitment when the new Transport for Wales franchise started, and was promised to be introduced by December 2022. (Liverpool to Llandudno was also promised to start at the same time, so it's only 3&1/2 years late).
On Mondays to Fridays, Hull Trains' eighth northbound train appears to be activated as a 10.44 London King's Cross to Hull, rather than being shown as a 'Q' path (runs as required) in the current timetable. I wonder if Hull has ever had more than nine daily direct trains from London at any point...
Transport for Wales are now there, with the finally introduced hourly service between Liverpool Lime Street and Llandudno - on Mondays to Saturdays only.
Lumo West Coast are in.
Apparently they will be running trains between London Euston and Blackpool North!
