I should have mentioned that it went on to stop at the stations between Coventry and Birmingham International (eg. Canley) which I believe all / mostly won't fit a 12 coach train.
Mods: feel free to move this but I didn’t think it worth starting a new thread for.
Yesterday there was a 12 coach LNR train (class 350) that omitted the Long Buckby call due to "a fault with this train". The guard said that it was because 12 coach trains couldn't stop Northbound due to the...
I would argue 0.4 miles isn't convenient. You would certainly be stressed if you tried to go there, sink a pint and get back for your train within half an hour or so (I'm sure it's possible!)
I walked past The Alexandra Arms and The Brunswick today, unfortunately without enough time to pop in. Derby is certainly a great station for pubs.
But earlier in the day, I changed at Rugby, which has zero hostelries nearby. They've opened a modern wine / cocktail bar quite close to Coventry...
Another shout out to the helpful, well trained staff at Rugby station. I stupidly put my return part into the barriers, so I could pop out to get an orange Calipo. Obviously it swallowed it and the man on the gateline cracked open the ticket barrier and sorted through the tickets to find mine...
On the Avanti I was on, the guard said that they were accepting LNR tickets but only for standard class and they wouldn'tbe declassifying first. I think his point was basically not to push it!
There's now a couple of diagrams showing as 15 car, which might be a first, at least for the Northampton loop.
I'm heading to London this evening and have the choice of changing onto the same Avanti service at either MK or Rugby. I'm thinking Rugby is likely to be less of a scrum (!) to get on...
My anecdotal evidence is that last time I split at Worcester Parkway but then boarded a late running train that didn't stop there, the guard said "just so you know for next time" when checking the tickets and explained the situation.
Pretty sure I then got a fast train back too because the...

(Hoping it might be a Class 37)

Tamworth: "Toilet roll" paper tickets with what looked like QR codes. We went on 1 Diamond and 2 Arriva buses, but none of the drivers even tried to scan them. The only place I have had this type of ticket scanned successfully is in Stoke, but only some of them worked: we were four adults, three...
My experience of PlusBus over the Easter weekend (Tamworth and Oxford) was that every single bus driver just stared at it, didn't say anything and then turned their head away, with an almost imperceptible nod. I think none of them actually knew what it was but because I said "I've got a PlusBus...
