    East Coast CSA

Don't worry, this is common practice not just with East Coast but with the railway in general. You have done the hard part by passing your assessment, now it's just the waiting game. I know how frustrating it can be but it'll be well worth it.

    PRIV card question

Last week I was travelling with a rival train operator (not going to name them) and I boarded at an unstaffed station. I had my wallet ready to pay for my ticket but when I showed my PRIV card the conductor just nodded and walked past without charging anything. I am new to the railway, only been...

    East Coast Medical

Was worrying over nothing. Recieved full offer of employment today, medical is on Tuesday. Over the moon.

    East Coast Medical

I guess I'll soon find out. Would be devastating to fail at this stage after having come through application and assessment centre stages as well as being in the holding pool for two months.

    East Coast Medical

I definitely need to be screened, they did say I'd need a medical before my start date, unless all that will involve is the screening?

    East Coast Medical

Have just been given start date for an on board CSA with East Coast. I had to leave my previous job due to needing treatment for a mild form of bipolar around three years ago. Obviously I have been honest and put this on the questionnaire. I am completely fit and healthy now and no longer on...

LU Station jobs go online Thurs 22nd

Wow!! So glad I went for this now even though I didn't think I had a hope in hell because I live in the north east and would have to relocate to London. Got the phone interview on Wednesday. Over the moon!!

    East Coast - Advice Needed!

It's because they always have a huge number of applicants for each role who then get whittled down to about 10 at the assessment centre. There are normally only about two vacancies and more often than not more people than there are jobs will pass. The talent pool is good for them because it...

LU Station jobs go online Thurs 22nd

Application all done and sent off. I actually did it before you posted this and now I've seen it it definitely gives me some hope. It's a great story, maybe I'll be telling it one day. Here's hoping.

    East Coast - Advice Needed!

The assessment centre I went to was in York for the same role. I'd imagine it'll be exactly the same in Edinburgh. The questions were just things like when you have provided exceptional customer service and when you have dealt with a difficult situation. Just remember that saying how much you...

LU Station jobs go online Thurs 22nd

Do you think it's worth applying if you have to relocate? Currently based in the north east but would like a go at this but not sure if there's much point since there's going to be so many applications from people already in London.

    East Coast - Advice Needed!

Can I ask when you applied for this role? The assessment is in two parts: a group discussion about things you observed on your journey to the assessment centre and a one on one interview. Both last approximately 20 minutes. Another thing I will say is not to expect a start date for a while. I...

    Northern Rail Conductor Vacancy 2013

It's better to look at it a different way. They invite all prospective candidates to the assessment centre and assess them all on a particular criteria. More often than not more candidates than there are jobs will meet or exceed the criteria. Rather than turning everyone away the place all...

    Northern Rail Conductor Vacancy 2013

I am in the exact same position with East Coast. This is common practice in the rail industry. Don't worry, they still want to take you on and at least they are being honest about not knowing when you can start instead of giving you false hope.

    East Coast assessment centre

I did as well. Likewise can't wait. Look forward to meeting you there.
