Betting shop plan for Sunderland station retail unit

London Victoria, Liverpool St and Paddington all have them, There's one out the front of Euston too. Probably more but I don't really look for then

Manchester Oxford Road Station Remodelling Scheme consultation: what do you think should happen?

They're not that far from platform end to platform end but the walk between oxford road and deansgate is almost the same as it is to Piccadily. As well as being the local station for a major area of the city It also serves a pretty important function as the interchange with the tram. Imo that'd...

Why were the Network Rail Class 37s renumbered as 97s?

    They're ERTMS test locomotives

Increasingly sad state of London Underground trains - graffiti and disrepair

A big problem with a lot of recent tag graffiti I see is the growth in the use of incredibly strong acids in the paint or markers so that even if it's cleaned off it either looks an absolute filthy mess or it straight up eaves the original work clearly visible because it's stripped the actual...

Victoria Line drivers to stage 'go slow' over noise

They have tube guage grinders and they use them, afaik the issue is that you can only grind for so long to treat the problem and many sections of the Victoria and others need far more intensive works and renewals

    New Overground line names progress?

When it started a lot of the aims where about improving the state of transport through the outer zones without going through central, back then in my experience it was incredibly rare to get a tourist going anywhere except zone 1 and a couple of very select spots of zone 2 like Camden. The...

Platform 3 at Worcester Shrub Hill timetabled 22/09/2023 Dep. 10.08 to Gloucester

Used to be an awful lot more use of it back when you saw more 1 or 2 carriage units working the lines but now most of the trains are just too long for it. I have personally had a couple of trains out of it in the last decade and the most notable thing is just how many people cannot find the...

Manchester Metrolink - Speculative ideas on how to improve it?

Yeah when I suggested the 2cc should have been a tunnel earlier, I didn't mean you had to replace all the on street through the city centre, it'd just allow for some(the former heavy rail) routes to possibly have longer trams, and generally allow for many more of them. I believe that's the...

    Class 323 At Northern

The three stations with platforms not long enough had them lengthened last year thankfully.

What would have happened to the railways if WWII hadnt happened?

An enormous amount of planned infrastructure gets completed, Electrification of most of the network happens far quicker than can be imagined today. The railway companies still lose a hell of a lot of money. Labour still get elected at some point in the 40s and nationalise the industries...

Should the order for 10 new 345s have been given to Southeastern?

No chance, they'll go into service on the Elizabeth once delivered regardless of when Old Oak actually opens.

    Class 323 At Northern

I can't find an actual complete source for every work but the amount of lengthening that's been happening up there has been very substantial. Everywhere that might see a 2x323 formation is, I believe, 6 cars long now.

Manchester Metrolink - Speculative ideas on how to improve it?

I think the discussions will continue forever, I can completely understand those reasonings for the first crossing however. I do believe, the network having now developed and expanded, and has aspirations for further development and expansion that putting the second crossing underground would...

Manchester Metrolink - Speculative ideas on how to improve it?

One line and at most couple of stations being downstairs wouldn't have been too great a faff imo, especially with the improvements to large swathes of the network that such a piece of infrastructure would allow.

    Blackpool Trams News

It's a protest against Blackpool council allowing Uber/Out of town operators to get away with flouting a bunch of rules. It lasted 2 hours and stopped about 10 minutes ago but they managed to cause a fair bit of disruption
