Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

so how many 810s in total are actually now in service (assuming all are in working order and available for service)? and what are the current diagrams? I need to make a london to leicester trip soon and i want to try and catch one if possible.

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

People are still not following the guidance. Arrows on the same single sign should be on the same side of that sign! These look terrible with one on the left and one on the right.

Avanti Class 221s to Cross Country

    Great, thanks for clarifying :)

Avanti Class 221s to Cross Country

I've not been able to find a post in the thread which clearly summarizes the numbers; is my inferred understanding below correct? Avanti had 18 Class 221 units. 7 of these have been transferred to CrossCountry The remaining 11 have been returned to the ROSCO and are now in storage/not being used.

Contactless Readers finally at London Overground TVMs

The issue is that most people don't carry physical bank cards (or cash for that matter) around with them anymore (I haven't done for many years); they pay using their phones (using contactless technology with Apple Pay or Google Wallet). Seeing as contactless payments were introduced in 2007...

    HS2 Old Oak Common

I think that the decision not 'properly integrate/connect' the two London Overground lines into OOC station (i.e. divert the lines and build a set of platforms in the actual same station (either adjacent, alongside, or perpendicular on a different level above/below the other platforms), was a...

Why are 350/2s being replaced with 730s?

I'd hazard a guess that the main reason for the TOC making this decision was in fact the leasing price difference. We know that given the respective dates that each fleet was procured, those price differences would be sizeable (as we've seen other TOCs make similar fleet replacements which seem...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Unsure if this has already been posted, but at least one sign in RA2 has now gone up in Clapham Junction on the footbridge, I assume it is new as those look like the newer heavier-arrow types. It's another poor example; why is the text for platform 1 & 2 so much smaller than the other...

    TfL routes constant weekend closures

It's nice to finally see this being raised. The LO Windrush line between Clapham Junction and Surrey Quays is such a joke round these parts that everyone just assumes it is closed every weekend and it's a nice surprise if it isn't. It's been like that ever since I moved to the Clapham area in...

Trivia: Stations that still have BR era (or older) signage?

God I cannot wait for all these hideous Avanti-branded station signs to disappear, I hope they get the new RA2 treatment sooner rather than later.

    CrossCountry XC Class 170 refurbishment

Oh wow, what a pleasant surprise! I really hated the mock-up images but I have to say both the internal colour scheme and external livery look very nice, professional, sleek, bright. It’s slightly annoying that they’ve used different shades of red and purple rather than keeping them consistent...

    Birmingham Interchange HS2 station

I do hope that the temporary narrow lanes and 50mph speed limit on this section of the M42 isn’t in place for years and years, it’s very unpleasant at the moment for those of us who have to drive on that section of motorway regularly due to the congestion and scarily close proximity to vehicles...

Examples of modern rolling stock which have improved passenger comfort, compared to what ran previously.

The Class 323s in Birmingham were in pretty bad shape for years. I know they have their fans due to nostalgia, but it's good riddance from most people. Tatty broken seats, stains and smells on the flooring, often either roasting hot or cold and damp with bad ventilation, particularly unpleasant...

Should Hull Trains become part of Lumo?

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/lumo-applies-to-operate-rochdale-london.267788 Would it not make sense for FirstGroup to merge the Hull Trains brand into 'Lumo' now too? Would bring all their Open Access operations into one brand and further expand and boost that...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

This is a really bad example. It implies that one can walk to both London Waterloo and Gatwick Airport by going in that direction! It should say 'Trains for/to/towards London Waterloo and Gatwick airport'.
