having seen the responses I would sum up the rail industry ticketing system as unnecessarily complex. Somebody needs to have a complete re-think, break down the barriers between TOCs and put the customer first.
Just saying.....
Thank You - I know the law is on their side but I am now out of pocket and time for this. Surely there is a regulator that can force NorthernRail to provide me with recompense? Is it just passenger focus and do they have any teeth?
Based on my previous experience I will avoid the discretion chance.
My tickets were booked by Co-op travel so I suspect I can't use the website
Are they open at 05.45?
Are you saying that the ticket office in Leeds should have given me the option to upgrade?

I have an advance ticket to travel from Doncaster to Kings Cross at 07:12 on the 11th Feb. It cost my company £89 (not cheap) after it was booked I was asked if I could meet somebody in London earlier 09.00 instead of 10.00. So I decided I would get the earlier train 06.23. I asked my company...
Thanks for all your feedback, I paid tonight.
One thing that's puzzled me, I put myself in East coast shoes and thought they haven't received payment for my journey so they should be entitled to get the money from Grand Central. However, if my company had purchased an open return I could get...
Not a critique of the website, a critique of the appeals process. I am stating it as I find it. Apparently I have a right to clear information on tickets it isn't clear and apparently RPSS should uphold where discretion not applied.
At Kings cross there is one entrance to a train, tickets...
Yes no problem - feel free to use the image.

Yes, completely understand - so given the fact that it's an easy mistake to make and expensive, should there...
Thank you all for your advice I will be paying even though I feel it's unjust.
I actually turned up to Kings Cross about 10 to 4 but spent 5 minutes looking for a chap called Gary from East coast who had kindly lent me a tie when I arrived that morning and asked him where I could find a tie...
No, not particularly happy now. The tickets are exactly the same and if the only indication for a different operator is "AP GC ONLY" I would suggest this needs changing. I think it's wrong that East Coast lose out too, so the system needs changing to be clearer. Maybe ticket checked or read in...
I forgot to ask - does anyone know how to upload a photo of your ticket on the forum - it seems to allow you to upload from a URL but not a picture
Sorry Neil - missed your comment - I didn't have the means to pay, the £105 is a lot more than had I purchased it in advance (which my company did...
Thank you for everyone's replies and opinions, clearly I made a mistake here and I suspect I will not be the last person to make this mistake, two trains 3 minutes apart going to the same destination.
I have checked my ticket and it was an advance ticket Under Route I have to admit it does...
