I can imagine people south of the river complain just as much about why a points failure at Stevenage is stopping them getting to East Croydon or whatever haha.
I believe I've actually seen a report at some point showing that South of the river is affected by skip-stopping more than...
Cambridge branch people are irrelevant since they get KGX stoppers still so don't notice disruption as much. CBG branch seems more reliable anyway, indeed as mentioned certainly not helped by PBO being so far north physically compared to Bedford/Cambridge + having to share with long distance...
I understand this, and I'd agree with you for the first hour or so at most in this case, but it wasn't exactly a total lost of power in the core or something disastrous to providing services north of the river. Hard to describe 4 hours with no southbound trains between Peterborough and Hitchin...
Vast majority would prefer to go back I'd wager - PBO branch just gets screwed over. A reliable train to Stevenage or Finsbury park gives most of the benefit of the TL program anyway in exchange for a 5-15 minute same platform connection to the Core. How many 10 minute connections do you need...
100% - I'm in one of the FB rail user groups for a station between Hitchin and Peterborough and there's constant calls to just go back to KGX services.
I'm a huge fan of the ECML TL program but they don't help themselves - On Saturday a points failure at East Croydon led to no southbound...
I was at King's Cross around 10 this morning, and I was surprised how busy one of those Royston only trains was - So the buses do seem capable of filling it.
This does happen fairly often at Farringdon, many happy memories of being on a wedged 700 while the driver shouts at people on the platform via the train's speakers. Never had it last more than a minute though personally.
Thameslink have very clear policy that you can't buy on the train - Very unfair for the guard to allow that when most people would have been fined.
They should see the timestamp and refuse it.
One before St Pancras on the Bedford branch, one between St Pancras and Farringdon, half between Farringdon and City Thameslink(Allowing going wrong direction northbound out of City Thameslink along the southbound track and changing back to the northbound before Farringdon) , One between City...
When the pan is dropped at Farringdon, doesn't seem to take more than a second or so to drop down? I'm pretty sure it's usually down before the doors even open?
It's very rare for it to be used for anything other than that I think - I suppose by the time it is considered the issue is usually close to fixed.
Either way these completely avoidable incidents absolutely destroy the service and given some branches are only 2tph it causes major problems for...
