The idea of registering a DR account for one TOC and claiming everything there is fine, otherwise you'd need an account / password etc... with every TOC that ever caused you to be late.
But the handover process never hands over enough detail to the responsible TOC to actually raise a claim and...
The customer is a distant third while the Treasury and Unions fight over the comb.
Running full and standing with half the train locked up is just another bargaining chip, like when when they threaten to disrupt the Olympics or some other major sporting event unless they are bought off with a...
Most people drive to the airport, but it is fairly few doing open jaw flights.
Ryanair, who have the vast majority of all flights at Stansted won't do open jaw on their own flights, you have to book separately. But usually if there is a choice of airline the same one is cheapest both ways...
I think the leasing costs for new vs 20yrs old are a lot more than 15% higher. The 26m Class 800 vehicles are almost 15% longer!
What this does show is what a massive waste of space the 220/221 layout is and how much capacity they should be gaining just by ripping everything out and starting again.
Nobody flying anywhere is going to spend anything like 1hr15 travelling that distance by public transport, even if you paid them.
Public transport is all about routes, timetables, networks and infrastructure. The acreage of parking at Manchester Airport is going nowhere until there is a...
Even in Intercity times, you had the XC HSTs with less First Class than the ones that went to London. Ironically it is only the Devon and Cornwall services on GWR that really seem justify the current provision - it is all rather empty on Oxford and Bristol trains, not to mention replicating a...
If it really could not support even 1tph in both directions during engineering work on the SWML and it is currently stood down, at 12 months notice of reopening, it sounds pretty tenuous to argue it is really of any strategic importance!
It would be interesting to see how much money is being...
I am not convinced by the premises of great demand for travel across the river. If you are importing anything from Dover to Essex, it must go that way, as well as anybody driving from Gatwick to anywhere North East of London.
If you wanted to improve connectivity, Femchurch Street is the weak...
Every airport is the same, including Heathrow, although their vast acreage is stacked vertically.
As a general rule, most UK airports that have rail connections, are well connected to their main city centre and most are badly connected to most other places.
Rail actually well suited to airport...
Interesting idea to interwork, but if XC can get all their First Class and the microwave in 1 car, there is no reason to have the GW level of First Class. The TPE format would be better which looks like 318+24.
As most people go to work, or go on day trips at the same time of day, there aren't...
This is true, but you could also have built heavy rail tunnels under Birmingham and Manchester for a fraction of the cost of HS2 and that really would have solved capacity problems!
There are a lot of wasted paths at Piccadilly. Letting Metrolink run the route via Hyde Central to Rose Hill Marple with a tram train would free up two paths an hour.
Another path is being wasted providing Styal with a direct service to Piccadilly
The Conditions of Travel say all TOCs have to meet the minimum in NCOT.
The NCOT website lists London Overground and Elizabeth Line as operators.
Many Elizabeth Line stations proudly display the National Rail logo outside the entrance!
