Ah sorry, I forgot to include that (basic) info! Yes, I will be returning on the same day.

    Ale trail

Hello all, This is a bit of a specific query ut hopefully has an easy answer - hope you can help! Next Sunday (11th) I'm hoping to do the ale trail from Manchester to Huddersfield - stopping at stations inbetween. My cousin, whom I'm meeting for this jaunt - lives in Huddersfield. He's...

    London-York on-the-day fares

Thank you all - in the end my trip got called off at the last minute - but might happen again soon (of course I don't know when so can't book...sigh!) Thanks for your help. Jamo.

    London-York on-the-day fares

Thank you, I hadn't spotted that. However my suspicion is I won't be able to get to Kings Cross before at least 5 - and it's going to be a rock-up-and go job. I don't mind waiting at another station along the route for a few minutes if that somehow makes it cheaper though!

    London-York on-the-day fares

Hello all, I've found out overnight I may have to go to York later today (probably around 5/6PM ish). If I do make the trip I'll need an open return (or equivalent of). Am I only going to be able to purchase the £124 off-peak return, or is there another alternative? I could split my ticket...

    East Coast 1st Class question

Thank you, that's what I suspected. I don't have a railcard I'm afraid - simply too old/too young depending on your perspective!

    East Coast 1st Class question

Hello all, apologies if this is covered elsewhere. I'm looking to travel from London KX to Newcastle on Friday 24th June, departing about 9am. I'm then looking to return as far as York on Saturday 25th, by lunchtime - & then return to London last thing that night. I'd also like to go...

Advice on return travel to a station which only has passenger services once a week...

Thanks - yes you're right, but it's usually much quicker (and more enjoyable) a journey. Thanks all for your help.

Advice on return travel to a station which only has passenger services once a week...

Thank you, that's incredibly helpful. One final thing then - if Lincoln is one of the 'routing points', would I be able to travel Gainsborough Lea Road-Lincoln-Newark Northgate-London, or am I forced to take the Lincoln-Sleaford-Pboro-London route? Edit: I think I'm reading the map (ER) as...

Advice on return travel to a station which only has passenger services once a week...

Thank you. I wouldn't want to get back into London before 11.17, as that'd involve getting out of bed early...! The problem is that Lea Road isn't officially on the route between Kirton & Retford. Would that cause issues? I'm afraid I have no idea what the routing guide is (though I can...

Advice on return travel to a station which only has passenger services once a week...

Hello all, I wonder if you can help. I'm looking to travel from London (most likely Kings Cross) to Kirton-in-Lindsey in Lincolnshire. There are only trains on that line for passengers (unfortunately) on a Saturday. For once, this fits with my schedule - outwards at least - I can change...
