    Class 175s to GWR

Does the 175 introduction have any bearing on releasing 80X for Sunday services? Seriously overcrowded services from Exeter this afternoon, could have sworn there were more afternoon services to London a few years ago but could be wrong.

    ECML Disruption (shock!) (01/06/2026)

Northbound was a bit of an extended mess for a while after the event for GTR, mainly for what I could see due to cancelling trains at Letchworth which meant trains - including Peterborough services - were held back in each signal section through to Stevenage.

TPE Class 802 1st class yellow stripe

Interesting spot. Surely there would be a more stylish way to apply that stripe which works better with the livery? Looks so out of place.

Could Sandy and Arlesey be served by the peak additional services from King's Cross?

The 1Ps Peterborough-King's Cross are nowhere near as busy as the 9J Peterborough-Horsham. Southbound peak 1P's have seats available weekday from Stevenage even, and on departure from King's Cross northbound. I know as I regularly take them and change at Stevenage so I can get a seat. They are...

    Lumo To Blackpool?

My speculative two pennies. A fair few of the services have quite lengthy dwells at Preston. I suspect Plan A would be to reduce these in future timetables, but I wondered if Blackpool is a strong Plan B - I.e. splitting a Blackpool set off a Stirling train once the new trains arrive.

    LNER Stevenage Pickup/Setdown

Looks like the sensible has prevailed, National Rail advising GTR tickets are valid on LNER this evening to Stevenage and Peterborough due to disruption.

Emergency exit handle activated, ECML, 4/11

The Moorgate line is not looking good either, very few stopping trains have ran recently and few look set to start up again.

Emergency exit handle activated, ECML, 4/11

The next hour looks particularly bad with nothing inbound into Kings Cross to form any GN services...

    December 2025 East Coast Timetable

I happen to be booked on 1N07 on Christmas Eve and that was showing a 10-car on the seat selector.

Kings Cross - security with tape closing platform

I don't think the GTR/LNER issue should happen regularly, at least in the working timetable, but of course things are re-platformed everyday. The 17:18/17:24 issue is perhaps a specific one as that is how they are timetabled at King's Cross.

Kings Cross - security with tape closing platform

Interesting. I was going to ask about this when I was blocked from joining a GN train as LNER had closed off the platform. I hadn't noticed this before but I assumed it was a one off... perhaps not. Fair enough to block platforms for their own services but it was totally unacceptable in my view...

    December 2025 East Coast Timetable

The PU/SD restrictions will be quite a big change, LNER services are very well used at Stevenage and often I see people wait on the platform after a Thameslink has left for the LNER for whatever reason.

    December 2025 East Coast Timetable

There must be a GN train missing in the morning, there's currently over an hour gap in the morning service between Letchworth / Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:W58709/2025-12-16/detailed...

    December 2025 East Coast Timetable

Well this is much improved compared to the original consultation for Darlington and Northallerton. Though slower than today for Darlo at least, the original plan to push the ECML calls at Northallerton into Cross Country and dramatically reducing Darlington's LNER connectivity with Edinburgh has...

Super off peak fare removal on Great Northern

Not sure if this is well documented already, but noticed this sign this morning at Hitchin. There has been zero warning about this but I can't check what the 'small difference' is as the super off peaks are not available. I presume this is related to the extension of Contactless and needing the...
