But you still didn't get the job. Also I doubt they would put it like that but they may think your effort or commitment to the job is lacking as well as your professionalism and presentation. Simply not worth the risk.

    Interview dress

I agree with the idea that likeability and suitability are most likely to be more important but why take the risk. You never know what it could come down to so take as few risks as possible and hedge the bets in your favour. Dress the best that you can for the occasion.

    Interview dress

I agree with most of the comments given here: you should ensure you are properly dressed for the occasion and to me that would be a smart suit with smart shoes. Shoes and suit etc don't have to be top end expensive brands but they should be smart and clean and fit you. As suggested above there...

Anyone else heard anything about our first day being at Go Ahead House instead of Kentish Town? I've been waiting for confirmation but heard nothing as yet.

Cheers, I agree that it is paramount to crack on and get trained as long as I'm not going to be putting anyone at risk, which it seems I won't.

I appreciate all the info and advice from you all, thank you. I will go to Hornsey if needed but felt I had to raise my concerns around the commute. I am surprised to hear that lengthy commutes are so common. Cheers peeps.

I'm looking at work around like that but I don't think self management is the most suitable answer. Quite often I would have to take 3 trains to get to Hornsey so snoozing isn't going to happen. I think when it comes to the safety of great numbers of people mitigating the risk is better than try...

My concern isn't about me per se; my main concern is the safety side when it comes to driving. My usual commute each way will be 1.5hrs sometimes longer. I've read a lot about fatigue issues associated with longer commutes and as a driver I would be responsible for hundreds of people and have a...

I hope so to, I've given up a lot to do this. Thanks bud.

I appreciate that and hope I don't sound like a spoiled child. Apart from the extra cost and time which I am willing to give for the role, I am concerned about the safety side. The commute was supposed to be no more than an hour for safety reasons and my would be a minimum of 1hr 20 mins but...

Thanks for the insight and update. I can understand the countless difficulties and problems with this sort of scale of situation but it is concerning to have problems before even starting. Don't get me wrong; I know this is still a very privileged position to be in with thousands that would bite...

Shefford. It's quite a big change as it would change my commute from a 20 minute cycle and then 25 mins train to 20 min cycle then an hour or two on the train. Or 3 times longer in the car. It concerns me that things like this are happening at such a late stage.

Just had a phone call to say they need to change my contract from Welwyn GC to Hornsey for permanent depot location. What is going on? Anyone know? It seems quite late in the day (after contracts and resignations and course/depot plans) to make a change like this.

I'm a geek and I like to play things safe, especially first impressions. . . suit.

Good stuff. What is the dress code prior to wearing uniform? I ask out of curiosity as i'll wear a suit until I'm told otherwise.
