There are proposals to build 3,500 new homes in the Granton area, on previous brownfield sites. I'd imagine the council will be looking for a substantial contribution towards the cost of the line from the home builders. I believe this happened with the building of the Newhaven extension.

I might be wrong on this but did Edinburgh Corporation Transport not use the number 50 as a special service number for buses out to the Royal Highland Showground when the event was on? I do remember the normal routes were numbered from 1 to 49 with most numbers being used.

You could use your Ridacard on the tram to either destination. Probably be faster than the bus.

I'd imagine the least threatening route would be the 23 from Trinity to Morningside. It's like a Saga day out with destination Jenners. The only problem might be the smell of filled tena-ladies downstairs. No one young enough to climb up to the top deck so no problem with neds or jakeys!

It was a very popular place for shopping with plenty to keep the kids happy. It was killed off when McArthur Glen opened at Livingston. I always drove there from Edinburgh but don't remember seeing any bus stances next to the car park. Perhaps passing buses stopped outside the development...
