Those who go to DMI will be assessed against the criteria but should have a very good chance of getting a job.
Out of interest, anyone know if they'll be looking for an enhanced pass like TPE or a base pass mark? And have the T&Cs been released yet or the wage structure?
When I did mine 1st and 2nd times it was all the same day but the 3rd time was all done in the same day. The hardest part is after the MMI when you’re waiting to find out if you passed or not.
Practise materials are ”ok” to a degree but better info seems available using google or searching on...

Good luck to all who apply. I'm not as I'm one of the ones creating the vacancies
Responding as a "full fat" guard, I can fully appreciate you're just after a job and I'm sure my brothers and sisters within the RMT appreciate that and shouldn't give you any grief for doing that job. There is, as you've already noted, some ill feeling towards the role from the on-board grades...
What depot?
Been doing it 3 years and I really don't mind coming to work. Wage on average with commission and Sundays 8s around £32k. Overtime is nearly always available and it is a career opportunity on the railway so don't go into it doubtful or half arsed as the training course is VERY...
I came into the railway as a guard from bus driving, and recently passed an MMI for a trainee drivers role. I linked the bus driving into the responses as well as my guard role so it may well be not enough detail rather than not good enough responses.
Although no that response wouldn't have...
I got pooled after speaking to the HR team. Seems my email was pinged back by the servers for some reason.
Rumour also has it Newcastle guards will be increasing from 15 to 29 too. We will have to wait and see.
I know 4 of us at TPE passed all of the assessments for the trainee posts here. I believe all 4 applied to Northern for Darlington so I'd hope we wouldn't be far off with the assessment passes already. Good luck to all who applied- it is difficult
Person on the tracks just out of the station along platform 1 to the east threatening self harm. It was quickly resolved and didn't cause too much of an issue.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
