Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

In all the posts above EMR should be replaced by DfT. This shambles is entirely their responsibility. They need to own it.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

It's not the Council's fault that its ancient gas/water/sewage infrastructure keeps failing. The relevant organisations will schedule the work to suit. (Unless it's an emergency of course )

Borders Railway - 10 years on

In cash terms all Scotland's railways lose money. In the wonderful world of cost/benefit analysis, however many make a contribution to society and the economy which justifies their continued existence. But you're right to point out that money can only be spent once.

Trivia: Bus routes or corridors that currently get a full 24/7 bus service.

I don't think that all the listed Lothian services operate 7 days a week.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Yesterday I was travelling west on the M9 and saw a Lothian electric bus travelling East. I know that you occasionally see them on the M8 if they've been to Volvo but I was puzzled by one on the M9 unless it had come via the M80/M876?

    How did ‘First Group’ begin?

I thought that it began as a management buyout of Grampian Regional Transport and that it's head office was still in Aberdeen.

Trivia: Independent bus operators with the most amount of depots.

And if you include Borders Buses, many more. What do you define as Independent?

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I read earlier that there is a bridge near Church Fenton which needs replacement. What other structures need work before Neville Hill,?

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

Removing discarded sleepers and lengths of rail plus devegetation is one thing. Having the opportunity to examine closely the condition of the OHLE and S&C is quite another and should deliver longer term benefits with targeted maintenance

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

I believe most TOCs have a large number of drivers approaching retirement and training of new recruits has to replace these as well as eliminating the excessive dependency on overtime and RDW.

    Ember: Electric coach service

It's mad at any time since most Scottish residents aren't paying anyway because they're either under 22 or over 60.

Trivia: Rail replacement bus/coach which is quicker than rail/metro system

Rail replacement buses on the West Highland Line and indeed the Far North Lines will always be quicker than the train

    Ember: Electric coach service

I notice that Ember are using tri-axles on their Oban to Glasgow services via Tyndrum. Citylink only use two-axle coaches on all routes which use the A82 between Crianlarich and Tarbet, for reasons which will be obvious of you've ever driven it.

    Rail usage

Traffic on TPE and Northern will have been affected by the regular blockades associated with the TP upgrade.

I'm not an engineer or architect but I'm wondering whether even though the station was structurally separate, it might still be be necessary to prop up the East wall of the station?
