    Well then, that's great news!

    SSR resignalling

The web feeds (which come from the signalling system) are still showing a lot of 'Check Front of Train' destinations which doesn't fill me with a lot of hope.

2024 Tube Stock (Siemens Inspiro London)

Would they be able to enter into public service just on Heathrow routes before the Uxbridge works are completed?

Short platform without gangway at The Lakes

In the South West this happens on the GWML with the joined 5-car Class 802 units, for example stops like Ivybridge where you can only alight from the front unit. Usually the guard makes a number of announcements at stations prior where there's expected to be a little bit of dwell time (e.g...

    Derailment in Barcelona, 20/01/2026

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1m78xl0gmpo There are some photos of the crash on X, which I won't share due to concerns around appropriateness before we know if anyone is trapped in the wreckage, but it looks like the train has been very seriously damaged.

    DLR B23 Stock (CAF Inneo)

Is it fair to say the 'fix' is likely to be a software change rather than hardware modification anyway? So yes I understand the contract arrangements but from a practical point of view it doesn't really matter where particular trains are.

    Train Types showing at Stations

Nationalisation should surely sweep away all this nonsense, as the companies will no-longer be competing for brand recognition. There must be pretty marginal gains, but I guess they do it so some people might choose their services on a competitive route...

    DLR B23 Stock (CAF Inneo)

Tendering evaluation is not solely based on up front cost, to assume this is just wrong. They look at what represents best value for money (BVM) - which does include price but also considers total cost of ownership, and measures such as support costs, spare parts costs, energy efficiency...

Potential new West London Orbital route

From what I gather, it would be two additional platforms on the but still part of Old Oak Common Lane station.

TRIVIA: Stations and tram/metro/light rail stops with staggered platforms that are located some distance apart

Lebanon Road on the Croydon Tramlink has quite widely spaced staggered platforms, though these are in a section of running on the road, so not sure how well it counts.

Is it possible to get from Birmingham to Bristol and avoid any tunnels?

Forgot that one. So it's literally tunnels in all directions. Tunnelphobes might have to take a bus.

Is it possible to get from Birmingham to Bristol and avoid any tunnels?

I think the only line out of Bristol that doesn't pass through a tunnel is the GWML towards Plymouth/Penzance. If you took that, you could change at Exeter, but the only alternative route back up to the rest of the country is the Honiton route which also has tunnels. So I think no.

Potential new West London Orbital route

There's been a lot of chatter in the press today about it potentially getting approved next month. https://www.timeout.com/london/news/london-is-set-for-a-new-700-million-overground-line-102025 https://secretldn.com/west-london-orbital-overground-line/ No idea how accurate this reporting is...

    New Overground line names progress?

Most people I know locally who live on the Windrush line are now using its name. Me included. Can't speak for the rest, but the name seems to be taking hold in SE London. Exactly, I don't say "I'll be taking the Windrush line" unless I want to be specific about the route with someone, you'd...
