Trivia: Most ridiculously named station in UK

This is very true. University is of course one of three stations in the UK with that name...

Merseyrail Martin Zee case - Not Guilty verdict reached

My memory tells me there was a case on Northern Ireland Railways - can't find a lot of details or the accident report online but IIRC it was the one at Slaght level crossing in 1990. Driver's warning light was not flashing; train crossed level crossing; fatalities in car and on train; train...

    Trivia: Narrowest platform?

Not on the national network - but, there again, that wasn't specified in the original post :D - what about Cynfal Halt on the Talyllyn? Both wider and longer than it was pre-preservation, mind you...

Preservation: Any classes of loco where the whole class is preserved?

I recall some years ago being shown a photograph of a Iarnród Éireann station - I think it was on the Limerick Junction-Waterford line - with a payphone under the canopy. Next to the payphone was a sign saying something like "If this telephone rings, please answer it. There may be an important...

Translink Antrim-Crumlin-Lisburn line in use 15.09.2013

Excellent timing with the RAIB report into the washout at Knockmore having come out today - makes interesting reading. I particularly enjoyed sections 107 and 112. Mod Note: see NIR Train suspended on washed-out track thread.

Giant's Causeway and Bushmills line extension gets go ahead

They had the Barclay 0-4-0WT "Shane" running in August when we visited - looked extremely tired and was only pulling 4 carriages (passenger capacity of entire train: 48), but there was no sign of the railcar set at all.

Giant's Causeway and Bushmills line extension gets go ahead

Do we know where they are intending to extend it to - is it just to a more favourable station site within Bushmills?
