Last year I'd encounter it probably weekly on the Kirkby line and have to get off at Kirkdale or sandhills.
More often than not though it was just cancellations, lots and lots of cancellations.
Last month or two has been very reliable however.

Today was the first time in about 4 weeks I've been kicked off because of a 'train fault'.
I do hunts cross to Fazakerley to get to work and can definitely see them getting more reliable.
Rotherham and Merseyrail need to take some responsibility too. Rushing Headbolt Lane and migrating new trains to the Wirral lines for a few positive headlines are the reason the Kirkby line is a mess.
That level of damage is surprising, I was on a train in Finland a few years back that hit a whole herd of deer, after less than an hour (and assistance from passangers) we were good to go. Big diesel loco though vs probably a far more fragile voyager.
Complete pie in the sky thinking but isn't there a tunnel parallel to lime street, goes under the old national express station. The whole London road area is a dump within spitting distance of so many historic billings, how much resistance would there be to clearing the lot and putting a few...
Why did they never swap the Mersey rail and city line platforms, would avoid northern line trains crossing the city line trains path. Extension to gatacre is very unlikely, doesn't seem worth the conflict to keep that potential open.
I'd love a gatacre extension though, there's a big area...
I work for quite a big firm and they have 'experts' specifically employed to arrange travel. I'll go with advice from here however and get a ticket from Manchester to the airport before I travel, thanks everyone.
Hi all, I have a open return from Middlesbrough to Liverpool Lime street for tomorrow afternoon, I now have to go to Manchester Airport instead. Work are saying I can still use the same ticket, as one of the connecting trains I would have got to Liverpool goes to the Airport and I could have...
I was on a train in Finland a few years back that hit 3+ deer in the middle of night, which mangled up the cowling on front of the train. After an anouncement by the driver a few passengers got off to assist and we were off again in just under an hour.
I spotted today there was a stack of shiny scaffolding plus tools on the Hunts Cross bound platform at St James today. Is some work/surveying about to begin or are they just cutting back the vegetation that has sprung up?
The layout of the platforms here has always struck me as slightly wasteful there's a good 3m of waste ground between the platform and cutting wall. There's also a large empty space that used to hold the gas silos you can see on Google maps. Speaking as a casual observer of course.
Hi I had a similar issue with accidentally short faring a same price ticket, got an £80 fine letter but rang them and they dropped it.
Basically I normally get the 8.02 train from lime street, but was running late so jumped a taxi to edge hill. Without thinking I got a edge hill return to...
