Lately it’s been okay getting into the outskirts along Wells road but I’m not about in peak times so different then I suppose. I quite often change at Gilda parade or more usually Broadwalk as often after a long journey up it’s got toilets and food outlets at the shopping mall.
Next toilets...
Quite agree as do several of my fellow bus friends from further down the 376 route. Excellent times to Gilda parade area then frequent stopping thereafter. No city route until Wooten Park where the 2/2A merge onto A37 or at Broadwalk (Greenmore road) where the 73 joins.
Awkward ground as 73...
Had one of the Bath ones on the Bristol via Radstock/Norton route at that time. Think it was when 178 and 379 ran at the same time.
Not sure but hope you got my reply to your question about when Yeovil Reckleford depot closed.
Not sure what actual date was but end of September period.
I must admit from an enthusiast’s viewpoint I find it quite interesting as potentially any bus can turn up which all adds to the variety. Must be easier for managers to work with a fleet all in a uniform livery as at least it gives more flexibility so long as vehicles which have to be used on...
That section of road through Greylakes is straight with the main issue being the fact it’s across the peat moors so not very smooth so although seemingly looking like a good stretch to put one’s foot down it’s not.
I’ve seen cars hammer towards Greylakes bridge and virtually take off when they...
Quite a bumpy section of road over the peat moors. Remember bouncing across there on Darts when riding the 29
As you say thankfully no serious injuries but very worrying for passengers and driver.
Think your right there. In the summer peak lots of service vehicles would be used on Nat express reliefs at least to Plymouth but sometimes Bristol.
A friend and myself had a Hoppa mini-bus on one such working from Liskeard to Plymouth and I also recall an Rell run to St Austell on another...
Made me go back in time there Wazoo to when travelling on a scratch card explorer last decade and noting Cornish Fairways livery (two-tone brown) on Rell’s along with Hoppa branded mini-buses and other vehicles in Green and Red liveries of which some were cascades from up north.
Also VR’s and...
Nice photos of old and new. There is fuelling on site also at the new site. Just off Bunford Hill/Lysander road junction towards the old railway bridge.
I would think any operator who have been running services for any length of time would steer well clear of this if they have to check it all the time and amend mistakes. Bet someone’s making a killing out of it.
Looks like optibus is anything but useful. Seems like there out to destroy bus companies by confusing and destroying passengers confidence in using the bus. Another firm out for there own ends.
Windmill hill will revert to 2 operators again then when the 373 commences as Libra Travel’s 668 service from Street to Shipham also serves the estate.
In Yeovil we have 3 regular operators on our town routes.
First Buses of Somerset work the cross town 51 service whilst South West Coaches work the 11 on the western side of town and lastly Somerset County Council work the 68 which serves eastern side of town plus a link to Yeovil junction rail...
