    Intention to prosecute letter

A statement was never taken, we were questioned with pre-written questions. We didn't have the exact money, maybe a pound or two spare. We showed him our purse/wallet/bag to see we had nothing else. It was either go and be broke that night or don't go and waste the show & meal which we'd...

    Intention to prosecute letter

I wasn't offered to pay the fare owed, just £20. There were 2 of us but he just said £20. I wasn't going to London for the whole day, we were there for a show, which had been paid for in advance & a meal which we had gift vouchers for. We had no other money except for our travel cards.

    Intention to prosecute letter

When I mentioned doing the same thing before he just said it didn't matter others had allowed me to buy a travel card before, the rules say no so was going to issue me with a £20 fine. He didn't really listen to be honest so I'm not sure this is why it has resulted in a prosecution.

    Intention to prosecute letter

Ha, yes, I'm an idiot. I just meant didn't know you could use them on buses, I was just commenting on what others had implied in this thread. I didn't refuse to pay it, I asked if he could send it to my flat as I didn't have the money that day. He asked then confirmed my address which is why...

    Intention to prosecute letter

The letter says that the intention to prosecute for "not having a valid ticket in Victoria" which is true, I didn't. However we always intended to buy a Zones 1-2 travelcard, as I said, I was going to Picadilly so always needed this. Which would cover us in Victora from Clapham. I just didn't...

    Intention to prosecute letter

To be honest, I've always just bought my tickets like this, I don't travel there often, maybe once every month or every other month so maybe have spent more this way...which could be why I've never been informed in the past! My tickets were just to travel from Brighton - Clapham as I didn't know...

    Intention to prosecute letter

This is exactly what happened! Phew, glad you made sense of my posts! No intention of avoiding the ticket cost as I needed it to get on the underground. Thanks a lot for your advice :-) --- old post above --- --- new post below --- And thanks Mallard for not being condescending!

    Intention to prosecute letter

My intention was to continue to Picadilly circus so I would have needed to buy an underground ticket for that journey. Whether I paid for that ticket at Clapham, or Victoria it would have cost me the same price so I wasn't trying to avoid paying anything. If I was trying to avoid paying, my...
