I'd rather we render the gangway question irrelevant by ordering units which are long enough in the first place. Many drivers seem to complain about draughts and noise from gangway doors along with reduced visibility out of the cab. I'd rather we didn't have to resort to such a compromise as a...
And yet, despite everything, it happened. All the objections were overcome and a way was found to mitigate all the obstacles. So I think that reopening the Fleetwood branch is perfectly feasible given the will and political support.
Couldn’t agree more with the above. Certainly there is the...
The track bed is still present although (as part of the electrification from Manchester -BPN) the Dimond connection at PFY serving the Fleetwood line was cut.
In addition, the siting of the overhead wires are in the way (of the cut out junction) although I suspect there could be a work around...
My understanding was that (as part of the restoring your railway fund- or similar) a review was carried out with tram-train being the preferred option. I’m sure the review costed this at 100 million £ plus. Sadly, as a local resident, I just can’t see it happening.
As much as I would like it to happen, either tram or heavy rail (if that is the phrase) under the current economic situation (and in general) I can never see it happening
I saw a video clip of an unliveried 807 stopping at PFY on a test run although you couldn’t see it along the whole of the platform. It might be a touch too long although does it have SDO? Likewise, I’m keen to know if they intend to service PFY.
In my ignorance, can anyone help me with what the 323’s acquired by by Northern will be like seating wise? As in airline and 2 + 2 (sorry, I don’t know the correct phrase) and NOT like the 319 2/3 seating which I personally found awful. I ask as it seems from this thread they will see use at...
Surely for operating sense considering the time that has been invested in staff training, the sets should be most efficiently used where most time has been invested in them?
As much as I really want and think it needs to happen for connectivity for Wyre/Fleetwood in the first instance, my head tells me it just won’t happen. I suspect the sums of money involved are considerable before consideration is even given to a fleet of tram/trains. We can hope
Too long! As a commuter I detest them. 2,3 seating, no tables, sat so low. They were old and “cream crackered” when they came up North! I appreciate the reasons and better to have them under the wires. But, just shows we are the poor relations when it comes to capital expenditure and...
A Nova 3 comes in at 245.8 tonnes tare including the 85t Cl. 68.
A three-car 185 unit is 163 tonnes tare.
A five-car 221 is 280.7 or 283.2 tonnes.
Silly question but is the fuel load/weight factored in. Thanks
A four-car 220 is 194.6 tonnes.
