    Can I point out that it's the Train Managers and on board staff that are taking part in the strike action, not the drivers. They are in a different union called Aslef and are not in dispute withe the company.

    9539 no hopper windows, no train supply so will be working off batteries. Therefore no a/c, heat or battery charging. Not the best choice to be included in rake. Do they not have any mk2 a/b brakes cdl fitted ?

    There's no valve on vacuum braked vehicles, your confusing it with air brake ones. And as for the vacuum leaking out and brakes releasing, anything between an hour and a week.

    Completely different in that the later Pcv version merely transmitted a succession of lights, not controlling the loco in any way. It was not a multiple way of controlling the loco.

    Even in multiple, only a single 31 will be supplying the ets, they were rated at 66index, so quite sufficient for long trains.
