For me it would have to be City of Truro's visits to the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway in the mid-2000s, it created such a buzz among our sleepy South Oxfordshire town!
A close second is Didcot's 'Two Kings' event with 6023 and 6024 in April 2011, just after the former returned to service - a...
Morning all, I just noticed on Real Time Trains (https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55060/2020-09-26/detailed) that the aforementioned charter has arrived at Hellifield some 78 minutes late, despite initially only leaving Carnforth 7 down. Does anyone know what the cause of the delay is...
- Doing the Caledonian Sleeper (Euston - Glasgow) and the Night Riviera (Penzance - Paddington) on consecutive June nights (with a Flybe flight to Exeter and GWR HST to Penzance in between) has got to be up there! The WCML at sunrise around Carlisle was particularly spectacular.
- Somehow having...
It was very effective indeed, a fact I can report first hand having unfortunately been caught up in it all travelling overnight from Hamburg to Heidelberg via Mannheim (0045 departure, scheduled arrival 0644).
My ICE ran as normal until Frankfurt (around 0530), where it was announced we'd not be...
Russell Howard, The Man in Seat 61, and Paul's Trip Reports (of YouTube fame) on the inaugural London - Amsterdam Eurostar.
Nick Robinson at Oxford Parkway on the opening day of the Chiltern line to Marylebone.
Michael Portillo at Oxford once the above extension had been completed.

The other night I dreamt that I shadowed a Northern driver on a service from Leeds to York via the Harrogate Loop. When we got to York, I was allowed to unfold the ramp in order to allow a wheelchair bound passenger to disembark!
Being at university in Leeds this was far too good an opportunity to miss, and so I was on the 1715 Skipton-Appleby this evening. I found that as a whole it was all very well managed, and should it happen again I would definitely have another trip! Well done and thank you to all involved :)
Didn't work last night but was just able to successfully book tickets and reservations on the Northern Rail website at the first time of asking :) so I guess that might be the best way of going about it? See you on the 15th, Tornado!
Oxford United beat York City 4-0 last night :D To York's credit, they had moments of alright football, but were ultimately well beaten by a Yellows side which has now climbed to 2nd in the table following Plymouth Argyle (Oxford's opponents on Saturday!) being defeated 1-0 away at Barnet.
