Had a trip to weymouth, 0905 waterloo, Weymouth 1205, about 3 hrs each to/from waterloo lots of stops so feels longer than going to paignton but about same time ( they seem to have changed the trains to Paignton now, early one not direct for me early ones are between 9/10am)
Beach is about 300...

looking at Llandudno it can be 3 or 5 changes to get there so reliant on each train being on time/running
Mrs looked a videos of boradstairs and thought not a look about for 4/5 hrs in the town
its just those 12 stops that put nme off weymouth, but maybe worth a try...

Hi folks looking for suggestions for day trips to seaside
we travel from doncaster
we like a sandy baach and mostly do the south west, (torqauy, Paignton, Weston super)

once again thanks for the heads up, we have been thinking about moving to south devon, but with the changes to Paignton area Mrs wants to have a feel for other area's did view in North west Devon but those single track roads as soon as you turn off main road did put us off,
we love Goodrington Beach, in our eyes Paignton was ok, But with Lidl closed & the Steam train not stopping at intermedian stations (used to get on/off at goodrington cheap Priv ticket ) its lost a lot of its charm

just update, we went to Paignton,
looked a bit run down to me, but easy to get around
as someone said earlier, looks like the rain tap been turned on all winter

did think about Bournemouth for day out, think its going to be back to paignton this time,
