C&L have a limited amount of diesel locos certified for passenger use, it is hoped to use LM114 and LM384, the later newly restored and yet to work a passenger train in preservation.
I understand the RPSI are running a mainline GM tour on the Saturday, so a good excuse for a diesel weekend in...
Full details TBC, but provisionally, Táilte Tours will be organising a "Mini Railtour" at the Cavan & Leitrim Railway on Sunday 9th August using some of the line's diesel fleet (timed so as to be reachable by service train from Dublin).

Quite an exciting time for Irish enthusiasts, personally I've always preferred the Bo-Bo locos to the 071s but I guess I'm a heretic!
There's something quite weird about seeing what to my mind is a 'modern' loco going for scrap (crash damaged ones excepted). But I suppose 25 years is longer than the Deltics were in service...
Yeh, I believe it's happened on a handful of occasions, Galway drivers don't sign for them so they tend to be kept away from it.
I estimate it to be at least 20 years since one turned up in Galway in "Arrow" livery, probably not since they covered some Sunday only workings out of Heuston.
This is the first visit of a 2600 class to Galway in quite a number of years, and quite possibly a good 20 since one arrived there in the orange/black "Arrow" livery (they did work Sunday only trains there in the 90s/early 2000s but are otherwise rare birds there, the 2700 and later 2800 class...

Now added, this loop was out of use for a while and has no scheduled services through it so might be one those who like their bobbins.
(The tour is scheduled to cross a service train there and with only platform the loop is the only option :) )
