How long have you waited I the talent pool for an offer?

About 6 months…..4-5 week course and 60 days route learning.

It normally does for the depot involved, it’s one of the criteria TOCS/FOCS use when allocating places. From following this thread and others it’s the specific depot need that can skew the recruitment order more than most of the other factors. Fingers crossed for you all that recruitment starts...

I know of at least 3 people in the Lime Street talent pool still waiting from the October 2022 recruitment

An ‘incident’ can happen to any driver at any time…..but like new car drivers, newly qualified train drivers have a higher risk for the first few years. The basic premise to take from this is the less time you are in the cab driving then the less time there is in which an incident can occur...

Freightliner, DRS & DB all have maintenance facilities in crewe.

I got the same choice a few years ago, I also turned it down and was offered a mainline position 7 mths later. One thing to bear in mind is that shunt drivers start on the full salary and retain it during mainline training so do not drop to the £20+k trainee mainline rates…..helped a few out...

Shunt Driver at Basford Hall gets you a full Train Driving Licence too as you do mainline shunts in to Crewe Station.

Shunt Driver is just under £44k
