I'd measure success for Celtic as consistently being competitive in Europe. You have to go back to 2012-13 to find the last season they made it to the last 16 of any European competition. It's not an unrealistic goal, in the same period Rangers achieved that on 5 occasions, including reaching...

Poor buyer protection policies on Vinted

My experience is the same. Between us, my wife and I have probably made 50-60 Vinted purchases and not had any issues with any of them. 1787759956 These are generally obvious though, I've seen them a few times and regard them as a red flag to avoid that seller. I apply the same logic to any...

Wondering if Celtic have set a new record here. Being 4-0 up on aggregate but going on to lose the tie is a new one for me.

Unpopular opinion: IETs are perfectly fine, for the most part.

Aside from the unpleasant seats they're fine. I've only used them a few times for relatively short journeys (Reading to Paddington), for that length of journey the seats are acceptable but spending 4 hours sat in one is an experience I hope to avoid.

    Pronounciation of Lewes

That's the way I always thought it was pronounced until reading this thread.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

I had one of those last week, a new one for me too. The big giveaway it was a scam was it was sent to my work phone.

Severe Alert from the UK Government

That perfectly highlights the failings of the emergency alert system. No alert was sent when it was actually needed, ie when the fire was approaching people's homes and there really was an imminent threat to life.

    Reform UK discussion

Agree 100%, but based on social media posts I've seen, such people certainly exist. All research and polling consistently confirms Reform's support is highest amongst the poorest members of society, if not disabled it's likely many of them are reliant on benefits of some description, and...

    Reform UK discussion

Reform have previously said they'll repeal the equality act, which amongst other things means employers could legally discriminate against anyone they think may take "excessive" sick days at the recruitment stage, such as the disabled or people over 60.

Severe Alert from the UK Government

"Potentially" being the key word here, in the same way speeding or crossing a level crossing when the gates are down are both potentially life threatening. In the view of me, many other people on this thread, and indeed the government when the system was first introduced, the emergency alerts...

Severe Alert from the UK Government

To repeat the sentences you removed when you quoted me: Risk, even when it's high risk, is not appropriate usage of a system designed to be used when there is an imminent threat to life. If the more proportional response of a press conference and a text message sent to all UK phones had been...

Severe Alert from the UK Government

Exactly, this is the gist of the vast majority of the negative comments I've read here and elsewhere, we're not downplaying the high risk of wildfires, but it's exactly that, a risk. When one is actually burning near your home is the time for an emergency alert. There is the technology to send...

Severe Alert from the UK Government

    Not for me

Severe Alert from the UK Government

In pretty much every other circumstance I have no objection to Welsh being first on bilingual announcements or signage, but a (supposedly) emergency alert system should be an exception.

Severe Alert from the UK Government

A misuse of the system IMO. It should be reserved for something as serious as "there's a wildfire approaching your home, get out now" Using it for general warnings like this will just trigger lots of people googling how to disable the alerts.
