LNER announce CAF fleet (Class 897)

I got a conclusive answer, to say the least. :D

LNER announce CAF fleet (Class 897)

Are those USB-A ports at the table seats in standard?. If they are, it seems a slight retrograde step when USB-C ports are being introduced to other fleet's currently being refurbished.

Does York need a direct service to Blackpool North ?

I would say that it is a popular and needed service. I just wish that longer trains were used, 3 car units don't really cut it, especially in the summer months.

    Power points on trains

I started uni at Leeds in 2011, I remember East Coast Mk3 and 4 coaches having sockets then. That's my first recollection of at seat power on trains.

What features of new UK trains would you not fit.

USB-A ports. A leftover from the 2010s, all trains should have full plug sockets or USB-C ports, for me.

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

The interior concept pics look realle smart, hopefully the finished product matches is as good in reality. I'm pleased to see that it looks like they will have more power outlets. Fingers crossed each set of airline seats wil have more than one socket. I wonder if there will be a slight uplift...

150's. They belong in the cess pool of history.

The have done their service well enough, but now is the time to replace them. As someone who is used to the Northern variety's, I was pleasantly surprised after travelling on a TFW example last summer. Tables and 3 pin sockets made it feel almost modern.

TfW withdrawals (Now just 150/158s to go)

Having a 158 or 150 with 3 pin sockets on Northern would be a nice upgrade when compared to their current Sprinter fleets.

SWR, C2C, LNER Prior Information Notices for direct award

Hasn't every private operator on the ECML failed for one reason or another? I can't see companies lining up around the block to want to take on that operation no matter what the Conservatives might want to rush through before the election.

LNER CAF fleet: predictions, suggestions etc

I'm wondering how the units will be configured. 3 first class and 7 standard cars would seem a good balance, or will they go down the route of split cars. An overall capacity of 650 passengers?

    Northern contract and Business Commitments

By the end of the decade would seem a logical time for any notional new fleet order to be placed and put in to service. It will be interesting to see how this develops going forward.

UK train passengers face loss of free wi-fi

While I am being slightly facetious, It really wouldn't suprise me if they did rip out sockets.

UK train passengers face loss of free wi-fi

For the minuscule amount that getting rid of free wifi will actually save the bean counters, is it really worth the hassle. To me, this just seems like another retrograde step by this government and it's attitude to the railway in general. If they do cut free wifi it won't end there. It will be...

    Class 221 for Grand Central

Fingers crossed that the 10 remaining 221s do end being transferred to XC. Short of ordering a brand new fleet, the opportunity to expand their fleet is something that won't come around very often.

Thanks for the info. It will be very welcome on the Calderdale Line after 3 years with only 1tp on Sundays.
