I wonder why GN didn't serve Cambridge North, Waterbeach or Ely for the remainder of the evening, given those stations were south of the fault and other operators continued running trains (including electric 720s from Liverpool Street).
I may be wrong but I thought the idea with the 2+7s was that they were 'just good enough' to fit into the new timetable paths, rather than trying to match the Azuma.
The graphs on the FOI are underestimating Azuma performance, but as far as I can see neither the 2+7 or 2+9 IC225s were...
Clearly some stations have done less well by this timetable - Berwick, Durham, to a certain extent Peterborough.
But I honestly thought it was all going to come crashing down on day 1, like in 2018. As far as I can see it ... hasn't?
Is it not the case that a lot of LNER Stevenage calls will be made by shorter trains in the new timetable? In the present timetable the 1733 and 1833 departures are both 9-car Azumas with about 500 standard class seats. The replacement for the former becomes the 1739, which is booked to be a...
The other possibility was the 225 Group, but they had a paragraph in their latest magazine to explain that they are not planning on acquiring any of them:
The 'Dine' menu published online is incorrectly a duplicate of Dish - in addition to those options there is a "chef-cooked" salmon with hollandaise sauce, broccoli and potatoes (and a cheese plate option for after).
Nothing overly extravagant but tasty enough, and seemed a reasonable size...
The 333s getting a like-for-like replacement in Phase 2, weren't they introduced only yesterday o_O
Makes sense to sunset a microfleet - and I've no idea how well they've aged under the solebar - but feels like they'll have comparatively short innings all told.
Ooft - the southbound ones are even worse. Quite a few of the Skipton to Leeds departures are scheduled take a few minutes longer between Shipley and Leeds, and so just miss the LNER connection.
Current timetable:
2H45 1347 Skipton to Leeds 1429
1A36 1445 Leeds to London King's Cross 1700
2025...
In the last year, I've had LNER cancel First Class service during disruption because there was limited stock of sandwiches (ie. there wouldn't have been enough for all passengers). We were still offered water, coffee and tea but that was it.
Great post, much agreed, but this tiny bit is not quite right - sorry! There was actually a 27th 91/Mk4 diagram on a Sunday, compared to only 26 in the week. 3tph from Edinburgh in some hours on Sunday requires a greater number of trains.
Please forgive the (perhaps silly) question. Are you, or were you, a Railcard user?
I ask because you mention in your first post that prices were reduced "predictably by about a third". This sounds very much like it could the 34% railcard discount.
The Senior Railcard, for example, is valid...
I note that a number of Freedom of Information requests were made on WhatDoTheyKnow for data relating to this trial. LNER has the obligation to respond in 20 working days, which is next week for most of the requests - but so far there is nothing.
Responses usually come from one lady (who seems...
