Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

Gemini, who were proposing to use Stratford as an international station, had written in their submission to the Temple Mills adjudication that they would reverse their trains in the platforms at St Pancras. But not take on any passengers there, given the station capacity constraints!

Issue with the Overhead Wires between Peterborough and Stevenage - 16/08/26

I was at Sheffield around 1530 yesterday (travelling home Leamington-Birmingham-Derby-Sheffield-Leeds on a succession of advance purchase tickets) and the station was complete chaos. Hundreds and hundreds of passengers on platforms 6-8, I had 12 minutes to connect from arriving EMR train on P7...

    European Sleeper experience

Definitely this makes UK-Denmark a lot easier. I suppose you could have done London-Hamburg in a day and transferred there onto the Snalltaget to Sweden to avoid staying over somewhere, but it did make the travel chain somewhat fragile.

    England - Zurich

In terms of the route via Charleville, this is still possible post the mid-2010s discontinuation of the IC service over the route, but the timings of the remaining TER trains make this hard to do. On most days of the week, assuming you want to travel on a train and not on a bus, the timetables...

Direct trains between Vienna and Belgrade in 2026?

Yes, but that didn't stop them from being added in the first place with a 'cancelled until further notice' marker. The ZRŠ-operated services remain up. In any case it's clear we are still waiting confirmation of if and when these trains will run.

Direct trains between Vienna and Belgrade in 2026?

Btw, I've noticed the Vienna-Belgrade EC trains and EC153/158 Hunyadi Budapest-Belgrade have disappeared from Vagonweb. These 3 pairs of trains were to be operated by the MÁV Classic hauled EC stock. Vagonweb - MÁV EC 2026

Direct trains between Vienna and Belgrade in 2026?

There is progress being made on the other corridors, notably towards Preševo/Tabanovci and from Niš to Dimitrovgrad. The Belgrade-Zagreb is stopped because of a political disagreement it seems, so that still needs to be resolved and doesn't seem to be happening. But I don't believe there are...

    [AT] Austrian timetable 2026 online

Something else that I've come across: RJ 256/259 Wien Hbf-Praha Hl.N have been extended to/from Linz at the beginning/end of the day. Dep. Linz Hbf. 05.32, arrival from Prague 00.28. Given this is 2 hrs longer than the EC via Summerau, it's clearly not aimed at end-to-end traffic.

Direct trains between Vienna and Belgrade in 2026?

It would be excellent if this came to pass, Vienna is already at the centre of the European rail network and this is yet another link! Lose France, gain Serbia! Thanks for sharing the link.

Direct trains between Vienna and Belgrade in 2026?

Do you know where you saw that article? I know there was something in the notes of the ERTT but hadn't seen anything more. It's crazy that Serbia has no hauled stock left - it used to pop up on a number of trains in that region which no longer run!

Wien Hbf and through vs terminus stations

I might have been exaggerating a bit, but they do take 42 minutes from Hbf to Westbahnhof (and the same in the opposite direction) with 2 hours layover in Westbahnhof. 12-14 minutes dwell at Hbf and 22 minutes between Meidling and Westbahnhof. AFAIK the running to Westbahnhof is indeed new...

    [AT] Austrian timetable 2026 online

I can actually see 4 daily EC services in each direction - one of them runs only between Bratislava and Wien Westbahnhof. Good spot on the Marchegg (Gr), I can't see that on the Scotty App. They do take nearly an hour from arriving at Hbf to arriving at Westbahnhof!

    [AT] Austrian timetable 2026 online

I've noticed that the ZSSK Eurocity trains to Bratislava and Košice are running to and from Wien Westbahnhof, at four-hourly intervals. Presumably these will also run via Marchegg, although the Zurich-Bratislava RJX will still run via Petržalka.

Stations in other countries that get trains calling in one direction only.

This reminds me of Liart (FR) between Charleville-Mezières and Hirson, which for a number of years was served only westbound by a single daily train. The station now appears to have closed altogether!

ÖBB orders more RailJets and reduces NightJet order

Maybe this is the real answer! Could also be DB IC stock I suppose as seen on other routes. ÖBB seem quite short of IC stock in general still. I suspect the real picture will unveil itself in time! I believed the short-term need for the diversion was due to trackworks in Germany - rerouting...
