I tend to avoid the declassified first class section on Thameslink because I feel the seats are dirtier than those in standard class. Oh for the days of Covid when the trains were actually cleaned properly
The area around Woolwich is spectacularly bad. The DLR could easily be moved closer to the river, with the labels on the right. That gives enough room to place the DLR & Thameslink Woolwich Arsenals next to each other, put a bend in the Elizabeth line to move Abbey Wood slightly to the right. At...
Sure, but that statement appears to be nothing but pure speculation. She's now repeated the statement that it "wasn't far into its journey", seemingly under the belief the train started at Peterborough
Most of these comments are from the London reporter they're talking to, who now claimed the passenger alarm as being pulled "not long after the train set off"
BBC's live coverage on the TV has had these inaccuracies:
Just said it was from King's Cross heading north - wrong direction!
"major disruption from Peterborough to Stevenage where the train travelled from south to north" - First bit is correct, but Stevenage is south of Peterborough
Described...
Points failure on the southbound slow lines at Stevenage causing chaos. Our Thameslink service was stuck just outside Stevenage, but reversed to Hitchin and is now going back south. We're only 39mins late, which I thought was impressive to do 6min journey, sit for a bit, and then organise a...
Literally pre-Covid. I used to use them from 2017-2020 as they stopped at Rainham and Denmark Hill (and then in the 2018 changes just to run fast through DMK but still stopped at Crofton Park)
What would be good if these were retimed though (purely selfishly) - often when I arrive at Blackfriars on a TL service to find the Peterborough one is cancelled, but I can't then get to St Pancras and walk to King's Cross before it leaves.
Why delay both trains? The Welwyn one had a clear run into P2 at Blackfriars but had to wait for both a departing service and the late running Peterborough one, and thus ended up pointlessly late
Also, I thought they did a driver swap at Finsbury Park, rather than a Brighton driver going all...
A very late 9J52 Thameslink not stopping at Sandy, Arlesey or Hitchin, but is directly behind the semi-fast Great Northern 1P88 that's additionally calling at Arlesey and Hitchin, but not Sandy.
So obviously it's not making up time by skipping those stations. Madness
(Both caught up a light...
It looks like Chiltern will be running a 2tph test service the week before Christmas: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:BLU/2024-12-16/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt
