With the diversions coming to an end soon, would First ever consider permanently rerouting the X4 or even the 1C/D through the current diversion route?

I would hazard a guess, it has something to do with the Scotrail strike. The loading may be busier than usual and the traffic heavier. However that is me guessing.

I can see them being introduced on routes such as the 5 and 61 with them being fairly short, but busy routes.

You are correct it used to run to the old pollok centre and interchanged with the old 48 there. When the 48 was scrapped it ran to pollok centre before being extended replacing the 22 on the silverburn to Braehead via penilee route
