Avanti cancellations - is it always this bad?

They'll have an extra 38 services a day to run then, so the number of cancellations may get worse.

Avanti cancellations - is it always this bad?

Aren't there also 38 Avanti services already removed from the timetable for over the summer? So the 56 cancellations today is effectively 94 services they're not operating compared to the full timetable. Then there's the many partial cancellations on top of that, such as 0800 Glasgow to Euston...

    RMT Talks

The length of the LNER dispute is irrelevant. The fact it's unrelated to the national dispute only backs up my original point. Where's the incentive for the Government to settle a future dispute about pay if the perception in Westminster becomes that ASLEF or the RMT will just find something...

    RMT Talks

It's almost as if the Government wanted to agree a deal with the union that can bring train services to a complete halt but are indifferent about offering a similar deal to a union that can't. Perhaps ASLEF's monumental blunder of announcing 22 days of strike action on LNER has also made the...

    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

Folk who want to work from home will be delighted. The drivers will lose a day's pay. No one else will care less.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Probably like recent Saturdays without rest day working with 30-60 cancellations and plenty more partial cancellations.

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

If the aim is to keep the dispute in the public eye then ASLEF have failed miserably. It rarely even gets a mention on news programmes or in the press anymore. There'll be a few token articles today announcing the action with the copy-and-paste comments from both sides. It's beyond pointless...

    Avanti West Coast Cancellations

Around 60 cancellations last Saturday, 30 on Monday, plus all the partial cancellations. Sunday seems the only day they run close to a full service.

ASLEF announce five days of strike action on LNER due to potential implementation of Minimum Service Law

It's quite an achievement for ASLEF. They keep highlighting in their press releases how they've failed to secure a pay rise for some of their members for five years. Now they're losing their ability to bring the rail network to a standstill too. The five-day tantrum on LNER in February doesn't...

    Aslef announce strike dates

Except the Government don't need to do that. They've told ASLEF what the offer is. ASLEF have rejected it without balloting their members on the offer and 'stubbornly insisted', to coin your phrase, on a no-strings pay deal. Or does intransigence only work one way in this dispute?

    Aslef announce strike dates

How many regular travellers have you interviewed to make such a claim?

    Aslef announce strike dates

It's a "whole week of disruption" in name only in terms of actual strike dates. Take the North West, for example. The TPE and Northern strike day on the Wednesday aside, the rest of the strike days are going to be completely irrelevant for most people in that region, though of course the...

    Aslef announce strike dates

This strategy worked so well in December, I'm sure it will achieve a similar level of success this time round. It seems that ASLEF have either run out of ideas or just given up.
