All the XC trains on that down south to Manchester route (thru Reading, Bristol Parkway etc.) are awful especially at morning and evening peak. The thing that gets me about this is Virgin didn't want to be held liable for a pension pot shortfall in the next franchise, ok fair enough but since they had ran the franchise for the previous 20 years surely any shortfall was because they hadn't put in enough.

If a train leaving Barrow 5 minutes late would do that then we have a really big problem around staffing of both train crew and signals.

I suspect there may be something wrong with your nose, the corridor the toilets are in stinks and have done since the introduction of those trains. I don't know how Virgin have managed this when it isn't the case on other trains.
