Longest journey in the UK to run with stock that lacks toilet facilities

I live in Slough and can confirm I am indeed not fortunate! ;)

    December 2026 Timetable Change

Looks like the GWR London to Didcot Parkway services will cross over from the main lines after Slough from December which means they will stop at Platform 2. Is this possibly due to the upcoming Dolphin Junction works?

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

Ah thanks for confirming, have been looking everywhere but couldn’t see it confirmed! Would make sense that they are applying for the MU speeds, especially the parent company being First.

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

Do we know if the 222s can run at the higher MU speeds or the non-EPS speeds? Apologies if already been covered.

    Class 376 refurbishment 2025/2026

Have all of the units been painted into the new SE Blue livery? Sorry if already mentioned further up the thread

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

I see that there are MU speeds for units to travel up to 125 between sections of Rugby to Birmingham, but I assume that the 805/807s are sticking to 110 on this route for now?

Chiltern Railways officially announced as EWR service operator

I believe Chiltern are DOO all services south of Banbury apart from loco hauled, are they just borrowing the 196s or using WMR staff too?

Very sensible post. The pile on Southgate gets is ridiculous where the likes of his predecessors (aka Eriksson/Capello) never faced that much abuse. I think he should probably move on now but I thank him for picking us up from the bottom of the pit after Euro 2016 and making me feel genuinely...

Elizabeth Line now has most cancellations

Agreed. Having a train every 15 mins or so from Burnham is much better than the previous 30 mins service we had under GWR. Softens the blow a bit if one train is cancelled.

Short platforms at Elizabeth Line stations

I’m not sure about Iver but I don’t think Langley can be extended southbound due to railway equipment. Northbound definitely not as the road bridge is in the way. As others have said SDO doesn’t really make it a problem.

Begging getting more common on the railway?

Used to happen on GWR Thames Valley services pre-TFL days so I guess the ticket barriers have stopped the majority of the beggars accessing stations.

    Reading Green Park Station

Of course but I’m not sure how appealing it would be for match day fans. But definitely a plus to have another option to and from the stadium, and for the business workers in Green Park too. This has been in the works for a long time so it is good to finally see the station up and running.

    Reading Green Park Station

The issue I have is the train service being every 30 mins so not really appealing. I’ll probably still use the buses or brave the walk down the A33 but it is good to have another viable option, especially those living south of Reading.

    Reading Green Park Station

The way the owner is running the club into the ground, I’d be surprise if there aren’t more Pompey fans there next season!

I hope both of us will be safe by the last game, I don’t want to be going to you guys on the last day needing something!
