    Why don't people carry cash?

Nice for customers to have a consistent approach. Anyway, a business is only liable for declined transactions if they have not used the most secure method of accepting the payment at *that* time the transaction is made with *that* card. For example, if you have a chip & signature card, a PIN...

Cancelling services short of the destination

By their employer, who will have written the standard operating procedures for them to follow. Or are you suggesting that the train companies don't have SOPs?

Cancelling services short of the destination

Are you suggesting that railway staff do not act professionally?

Cancelling services short of the destination

I am sorry but I find that unbelievable, and no professionally run transport operation would act in such a manner. You must have misunderstood. If the person making the decision and all the people in the chain did not ensure that the correct procedure to communicate matters to the customer...

Cancelling services short of the destination

Of course staff would know of the alternative arrangements. It would be deeply unprofessional for any transport organisation to make an arbitrary change to its scheduled services without communicating the impact to its customers. So it seems obvious that before anyone decided to stop a train...

Cancelling services short of the destination

"make a situation worse" - Don't be silly. The professional train crew will have already liaised with the people who instructed the change to establish what the arrangements are to minimise inconvenience to customers. It will only take a few seconds to communicate that information over the...

Cancelling services short of the destination

Yes, what I meant was at Worcester the customers prevent the train leaving until the train staff have explained what arrangements they have made for the customers to complete their journey.

Cancelling services short of the destination

Surely the simple answer is not to allow the train to head back, until the staff on the train have told the customers what provision has been made to get them to their destination.

Staff travel card and weekend first.

Seems fairly obvious, if the train company tariff required an additional fare payable to sit in first class, the dishonesty was not collecting the fare due, so depriving their employer of income. So yes, I do hope that an honest person would have reported this.

Staff travel card and weekend first.

I hope you reported them, so their employer could take suitable action. Employee fraud is taken very seriously by the courts.

Please don't walk through first class

So all you need to do is time your walk through first class, so you don't arrive at the doors before they are open. Seems fairly straightforward to achieve. And even easier when boarding, just don't stop walking until you reach standard class. In either case if an RPI stops you, then it is...
