    Hull Trains Strike over dismissal

That rep may have been sacked for making a false report. But the report was not for what you are saying it was (and it was false).

Should train drivers require a driving licence?

We don’t require a license at our TOC. But I do ask at interview how they expect/plan to arrive in time for their shifts. I have actually had someone admit that they hadn’t thought through how they were going to get in for an 0430 start.

TransPennine Trains - Trainee Driver Recruitment Discussion

To be fair all depots that have advertised have now had candidates taking OPC testing.

Scarborough didn’t have a suitable candidate and didn’t hire.

TransPennine Trains - Trainee Driver Recruitment Discussion

1000’s not 100’s of applications. It’s just not practical to give feedback to all those. The automatic feedback from the AI will help.

TransPennine Trains - Trainee Driver Recruitment Discussion

It may be fashionable to quote DEI (or whatever) as reasons for rejection. But at this point each application is anonymised when presented to the hiring manager. I wont go into detail but any rejections so far are nothing to do with any quotas or diversity figures. (No age, sex, race, where...

TransPennine Trains - Trainee Driver Recruitment Discussion

Unfortunately the 8 week full pay thing has garnered poor attitudes. But while the union continue to ‘back’ these people at the expense of their workmates that’s not going to stop. You can only try and get the recruitment right, which bodes slightly better for the external candidates as...

TransPennine Trains - Trainee Driver Recruitment Discussion

Both. The AI can successfully filter (ie give a recommendation) the extremes (good/bad) quite well. A human will still press the yes/no button.

TransPennine Trains - Trainee Driver Recruitment Discussion

Hi all. If just like to urge caution on what you read on forums, this one too. There’s some information on here that is incorrect. If anyone states any policy on here you can pretty much disregard it as unintentionally wrong, particularly from fellow candidates who are not yet employed by TPE...

100%. It has unfortunately brought the worst out in one or two candidates. Definitely some burnt fingers recruitment wise so Driver Managers will be ultra scrutinising this time to try and prevent some more slipping through the net.
