Since the barriers were changed in Chester there is now a ticket machine inside of the barrier, which I have seen plenty of people use when they find the barriers are in operation, no need to exit to use a machine.
During my trips in the last month (various routes, days & times) the one which has consistantly been packed is the Holyhead-Birmingham, thankfully I have mostly used it between Wrexham & Chester so don't mind standing, there are always hoardes of people getting on & off at Chester on this...
I don't think any have been scrapped.

They are good if you only have one or two items which dont require assistance. I would never use one if I had about 5 or more items as it takes far too long for the dam thing to work, as others have said you can only do one thing at a time; scan, place item, wait about an hour for it to notice...
I dont know if its just me or does the 'red' look more pink than red?
Also why did they do 67018 instead of 67029, surely that would of made more sense?
