Regarding VTEC. Do you think they will call 800101 flying Scotsman? Not sure of the railway rules regarding this no doubt die-hard enthusiasts will dismiss it right away as it's not a loco. It wouldn't be right not to have a flying Scotsman on the east coast.

802002 is your missing number pal. Each unit needs one pan up. a 10 car cannot run on one as the 25kv dose not pass through the coupler. Unless it's s rescue and the 2nd 5 is dead. That set up of one up on each end is default from TMS but the driver can choose what pans to use for instance...

On a 5 car set you get two wheel chair spots on DPTF On a 9 car set you get 2 in DPTS and 2 in DPTF.

It's easier than you think as all the equipment like APS etc is still there just minus the mtu engine units themselves and they are just bolted on underneath.

In the scenario your talking about a 5 on diesel a 5 on pan then once coupled TMS will reboot then drop the pan. It's then up to the driver as per his instructions to start engines on other unit or stop his and raise the pan. Even if both are in electric it will drop pan as it's configuration...

they are under going static testing. T38 and T39 will hit mainline sooner than T71 and T72 just because they are needed sooner for GWR.
