Forgot to use railcard when buying ticket online

It would seem a risk to book a new ticket hoping that LNER will refund the original. Hence I didn't consider this option. But should I be silly enough to make the error again I now have an email to confirm this is what I should do. LNER said £5 fee. It took 11 days although less than 10...

Forgot to use railcard when buying ticket online

LNER have replied and said they can't add the railcard discount retrospectively. Their advice that should this happen again I should buy a new ticket with the railcard and they would refund the original, seems surprising given that my ticket was an Advance, as are most of those on LNER trains...

Forgot to use railcard when buying ticket online

Thanks. I will try to use the forum ticket site more often. I've tended to use the TOC with whom I'm travelling as that seem to make claiming delay repay easier. Also I prefer to have a paper ticket.

I've emailed LNER as you suggest. Thanks.

Forgot to use railcard when buying ticket online

I wish LNER would let us buy proper flexible tickets which can be refunded in advance of travel as used to be the case. I'd be willing to pay more for this (as I do most of the time on GWR) but the option doesn't seem to be available any more.

Forgot to use railcard when buying ticket online

A couple of weeks ago I purchased First Class Advance tickets from Kings Cross to Leeds and back from LNER, for 16th / 17th August but I've now realised that I forgot to apply my senior railcard for discount. Is there any way I can get a refund for the discount from LNER or do I just have to...

This photo, which was taken from a local Facebook post this morning, shows the footbridge at Paignton station well alight.

Paignton station footbridge on fire 21/07/26

Photos on local Facebook show the footbridge at Paignton station well alight. GWR say station on fire but it looks like just the bridge. GWR say signalling damaged and no trains running until at least 14.00.

St Erth to Plymouth service cancelled from 18:00 for the rest of the day

All you are entitled to is delay repay based on your arrival time at Plymouth. GWR said there would be a train and there was, although late.

Ticket scanning / On-board sales commission

I find my tickets are checked far more frequently on GA than other operators. Both by the 'guard' and ticket examiners.

First Class Single Torquay - Paddington

On the advice of the Ticket Examiner I have emailed GWR customer service requesting a refund of the new single ticket. The original was a return and I'd used the outward half, albeit 14 days before it was valid. It wasn't picked up at the barrier or on any of the outward trains (three as I...

First Class Single Torquay - Paddington

I recently had to purchase a ticket from a GWR Ticket Examiner having accidentally bought my ticket for the wrong day. It was travelling First Class from Torquay to Paddington, for which the usual first class anytime day single is £147.90. She charged me £48.00 for a standard class super...

    Delay Repay Boarding Late-Running Train

Thanks. Yes that is pretty much what happened and my view also. The train was 30 minutes late but I wasn't. I won't claim on this occasion. I'm hoping for some goodwill from GWR on another matter, when I had to buy a new ticket as I'd accidentally purchased one for the wrong date, so hope...

GWR: no longer possible to book (online) seat or bike reservation except when buying a ticket

It doesn't seem to be possible to specify a window seat any more.

    Delay Repay Boarding Late-Running Train

Travelling back with an off peak return I arrived at Didcot to find an earlier late running train in the platform. I boarded this, which arrived at Paddington 30 minutes late. The train manager announced that everyone was entitled to delay repay. My arrival was however earlier than it would...
