Protocol for presenting split tickets for on-train inspection?

Depends. With paper tickets (or 1 x paper 1x e-ticket) I'll usually show both. With e-tickets only, just the current one.

    How do you keep cool?

I just go up to the Highlands for the week :D Slept no problem last week! Sadly, won't be an option next time ...... And even portable air con is outside my budget. Probably sleep on the floor downstairs (and pretend I'm in a bothy!)

    WCR - Jacobite 2026

It didn't run at all on Friday. Unfortunately I'm now home from Essan so missed seeing today's recovery.

GBRf Class 99 - 30 locomotives now ordered

Not the best of pictures, but 99008 passing through Evesham yesterday afternoon (15th June) taking the "Inspiration" coaches through to Long Marston

    Why I avoid e-tickets

It was that which persuaded me to switch to etickets - I always used to prefer TOD. I like having a physical ticket on me. Then, on one journey north, which involved split tickets, I discovered one of the tickets missing, just before I started my journey. No idea whether it hadn't printed...

Services which terminate one station beyond the much better known location (Trivia)

Not quite the same, as it's the reverse situation (terminating one stop before the better known/bigger destination) but: Worcestershire Parkway instead of Worcester Shrub Hill/Foregate St (last train of the day, too)

    Reform UK discussion

Which, of course, is what happened with Brexit - Farage "promising" that we'd save millions that would instead go to the NHS (remember the infamous bus?) - when, of course, he was never in any position (or likely to become so any time soon) to make such a promise, let alone fulfil it...

    Reform UK discussion

Fairly confident Farage won't be canvassing round this way any time soon .... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c93wv0ylq9yo He's also proven himself in recent live interviews to be a quite obnoxious little man, with less charisma than a skunk that been dead for at least 9 weeks.

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

So this horn malarkey. How exactly does a toot on the horn a few times a day cause anyone any distress? I could understand if it was every 5 minutes. This is just silly children being even more juvenile. As an aside, I rather like it when the trains passing Essan whilst I'm in residence...

Far North Line in the snow

My thought was "what would we do if we didn't still have them running?" What other - more recent - locos are there that could do their job, just as well or better, in these conditions?

Experiences of trying to spend Scotland / Northern Ireland / Isle Of Man / Jersey / Guernsey / Gibraltar banknotes in English shops.

Not sure they are legal tender anywhere. But yes, a lot of these commemorative coins are minted for places like that - just another sign that they're a con. The only people who collect them are (mostly elderly) people* who have been misled into thinking they will become valuable - in most...

Supposedly. I've come across a few fakes though - albeit they are maybe slightly more obvious than fakes of the older style coins.

Aye, the old "Landlord's trick" - if the embossed bit is there in the top left hand corner it's most likely to be okay. These days I think it's actually braile? AFAIK fakes don't have that. As for fake pound coins - I have a few. I doubt anyone ever gave me one knowing it was fake though

Any Scottish or Irish banknotes I get in my shop I tend to just pay straight into the bank. Always happy to accept them - although was a little confused the first time I was given some Dansk Bank notes! Hadn't realised the Danish Bank had bought out one of the NI ones.

West Highland Line Closure in November

A bridge from nowhere to nowhere! Can't be more than a handful (if that) people ever use it? Can't even think the Estate would have need for access.
