I work for Northern and the 158's are our best units by far, I tried to post previously some of the reasons the air con isn't always great and why they aren't repaired as often as needed, why we don't "rip out all the windows for new windows with more quarter lights" (idiot) and was shot down in...
Thought I'd throw a few facts and thoughts your way see if it helps your understanding.
The air conditioning system on 158 units is as some people mentioned in previous posts installed and made by an external company, generally Liebherr. Depots don't do any maintenance, fitting or...
I am 15 weeks in to my training as a trainee driver and at first had similar thoughts and frustrations trying to get through the application process and wondered why drivers, guards......anyone on the railway get paid so much. Since then I have learnt the answers to all these questions...
I was there the same day, passed everything I could and travel pass turned up too. Do you know what the situation is if you want to travel on Transpennine services? Says something about needing a separate residential pass??
See you Monday pal.
Received my pack yesterday, everything is in the pack you need to send back, although the last page of my life changing events form is missing so if yours is let me know and I'll email you the electronic version as they had to email it me.
There's a lot to fill out think they're wanting it...
No nothing through the post, depending when and how it was sent, could come today or tomorrow. I currently work for royal mail so, I'll let you know when I get hold of mine.
Just wanted to thank everyone for their posts and advice, found out on Christmas eve that I am going to start my driver training on 14th January with Northern Rail.
Excited much!
Christ on a bike, so we still might not have jobs yet? This is the most torturous recruitment process I've ever been through. The three of us who were interviewed at the assessment centre had all applied to different locations, but I suppose others could have applied for the same posts as us and...
I know from reading some posts and websites that you can fail this interview, suppose there would be no point in doing it if you couldn't, was it the assessment centre guys who marked the interviews? Failing at any stage must be awful, but failing at this stage must be a kick in the nuts.

My managers interview email response took 11 days, but I hope that they are quicker with this. My emails will be open constantly until the news arrives.
I know they want the training to start mid January, so for time for medical and people to hand in notices they would have to be quick to...
Just to maybe clear a few things up for you guys, I'm at the very end of the recruitment stage and not once did they reply in the time frame they gave me, however they got quicker and quicker the further in to the process I got.
Good news is they let you know either way through email not post...
Sorry for presuming ages, I only guessed I was the youngest as I heard someone refer to me as the young lad ;-)
Gutted for you guys who didn't quite make it, but I'm sure second attempt you'll all nail it! It could of gone either way for any of us, I count myself as being lucky as well as...
So had the assessment day yesterday, passed all the assessments with some very high scores apparently, although they can't give you the actual results. Just waiting now for an email to tell me if I've passed the interview or not.
I thought as a good will gesture to everyone who commented to...
