New Units in Service in 2023

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/983963/response/2330176/attach/2/Response%2086%2023.pdf?cookie_passthrough=1 Update on the FOI request. I am puzzled as it basically says that the service introduction pause is not linked to any defects on the 197 leading to acceptance pause, nor conflict...

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

I had a quick look on RTT and it seems to be running a bit better these last couple of days... Weird!

Yes I have seen that but the member that said it remained very vague. I have made a FOI request to know what is happening...

Any news on why there has been no new 197 introduction since march? Thanks!

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

All the more given the problems the service is facing at the moment, which one could argue are partly due to the management of the transition to 197s and how long we have been waiting for them... I wonder whether the issue around sliding toilets doors has been identified as a problem by...

    TfW 175 shortages

Agreed 9 is a good recovery and the substitution of other stock at such short notice with little cancellations. But west wales has seemingly payed a high price for the core routes. Today it seems that Crosskeys Newport is also impacted by service reduction. Nevertheless, the sprinters...

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

This morning in Swansea, there was a 2 car class 197 on training run... Hopefully, it is ramping up and we will see them in service in the south soon... Looked snappy on departure.

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

I would be really disappointed given the much better power to weight ratio compared to sprinters and 175... Northern 195 were reported with 0.83 m/s^2 which is quite good and not far off an IET on electric power.

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Sensible thing! Maesteg trains do not seem to be able to maintain timings on Cardiff-Bridgend with knock-on delays on express trains, a swanline worked by class 153 would be the same problem...

    TfW 175 shortages

I disagree, we are in 2020 the standard of comfort aboard sprinters is simply not fine. There is no air-con, the noise levels are very high. If TFW was serious about raising the profile of the Manchester-Cardiff route there should have been more planning going into the 175s-197s/Mk4s transition...

Seems like it's on its way back to Cardiff from Carmarthen https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:30057/2023-01-30/detailed

Does anyone knows by anychance why the 2 197 are in Landore, as of today they are still coupled.

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

With the layout of Cardiff being what it is, it was one of my worries that splitting the Manchester-West Wales would increase the number of ECS in Caerdydd for a station not designed for it. Every train that needs to terminate from the East and that then has to go back East will have to cross...

Heavy delays on trains that seem to run with Mk4 sets today as all days when they are actually running. Do we know the cause of those? Have some sets come back from SDO fitting? A quick check on RTT seems to show that there are more out than the last couple of days. Thanks.
