It’s a user worked crossing leading to a farm rather than a through road.
It does get reported and it used to be a common occurrence that trains would stop and close them.
Sadly an incident a martins lane crossing has been years in the making. The gates are forever being left open. It’s about time they removed it all together.
Used to happen all the time, especially if the bulb in the pa button was very dim or the sun was shining on it:
The yellow button would be pressed and turn on the PA, you’d have to press it again to turn off the PA. The white button was just a beeper to contact the driver.
I will be interested to know what the report says about that last sentence. In my opinion training quality has certainly diminished in the last decade.
It was a signalled move onto a single line. Was 2 158’s, when he changed ends the cab was ahead of the signal. The northern report mentions reading through to the single on the up L&Y.
Given the train involved is part of the 80x fleet I’d take aws fault with a pinch of salt. They have been plagued with faults ever since introduction. Mainly because far too much information is presented to the driver as fault, that is really just meant for maintenance teams.
