    No email here (Paddington depot).

First Great Western - Trainee Drivers

Same here. I think a lot of the DM interviews were delayed due to DMs being busy with part of the line falling into the sea.

Just got a "we're busy reviewing applicants, but you're still in the recruitment pipeline" email.

First Great Western - Trainee Drivers

Another Paddington Depot applicant waiting for a DM date here. Passed stage 2 in late December (and got the results in under a week, which got my hopes up for a speedy turnaround), but I haven't heard a peep for the last two months. The applications contact phone number is just a "leave your...

    New Train Driver Assessment

It did seem bout that. We all started the test at the same time, and generally all hit the button within a second of each other, but in different orders. Roughly once a minute, but with a randomised offset. Trust me, this is significantly harder than normal computer usage. Set your screen to...

    New Train Driver Assessment

Update! Assessment part 2: Starts with providing short (one, maybe two sentences) on a selection of questions, that will later be used for the MMI. Very similar types of questions to the CBI, so look up the large amount of information on that. Next, the Situational Judgement Exercise. It's...

    New Train Driver Assessment

The beeps were about 2 per second IIRC, and as far as I could tell the speed was constant throughout. There was then an audible spoken prompt to write your answer, with a 1-2 second pause to write it, then the next "listen to be beeps" (or words to that effect) prompt.

    New Train Driver Assessment

Whoops, yes, Wednesday 16th was my assessment day. While you could try timing things with your watch, I suspect you'd waste more time clock-watching than you'd gain by rushing out some answers at the end.

    New Train Driver Assessment

Interesting! My test was Wednesday 16th, so hopefully I'll hear back early next week.

    New Train Driver Assessment

Mostly worried about my Group Bourdon. I ended up doing 1-2 lines worse on part 4 than the others (which were consistent). The opposite for me! With the computerised one, I can scan along a line then mark 'behind' my gaze. With the paper one, your hand gets in the way no matter how you orient...

    New Train Driver Assessment

The tests are on ability, not competence. They're designed so that practising them will provide little if any improvement. For your astronaut analogy: they're testing whether you panic when rotating at rapid speeds about multiple axes with no frame of reference, not whether you can correctly...

    New Train Driver Assessment

Just completed the first part of the new assessment regime (paper-based tests only), so I though I'd give an overview of the new tests. First off, the Group Bourdon and TRP are done back-to-back. As far as I am aware, these are unchanged from the previous assessment, so plenty of information on...
