Offal - why are less-desirable cuts of meat more expensive?

One of the best school dinners we had was liver, bacon and onions. Having noted that, school cooks did vary in their abilities.

Severe Alert from the UK Government

I have not been by my phone for any alerts. Does the sound start immediately at full volume, or ramp up over a few seconds ?

How should Network Rail go about returning personal items after the Lewes incident?

These keys are not lost. Their location is known. The owner is being prevented from accessing them.

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

In my experience, passenger information boards tend only to be near the entrance.

A New Series of "Fare Dodgers At War With the Law..."

Nottingham tram revenue protection are shown claiming they are entitled to demand ID (not clear what sort). Furthermore, they are shown claiming not doing so will change the situation from civil to criminal. The bye laws only appear to require a person to give name and address, same as...

Ticketer and Google Wallet Express Pay

I have recently upgraded to a phone with NFC. I see that TfL support Google Wallet 'Express Pay', whereby the phone only needs to be awake (screen on) rather than needing to be unlocked. Does Ticketer support this feature ? If the answer varies by operator, I would be using Arriva in...

Trains all at a stand in the Manchester area... (Thursday afternoon 06AUG2026)

How likely is it that detail of why the UPS/generator didn't perform well will be made public ? There may be lessons there far wider than the rail industry.

    Arriva (Beds, Bucks, Herts)

I have just received, with the post, a printed flyer for the SB1, advertising an improved 15 minute peak service. It includes a route map and 'main stops' timetable. I can't recall the last flyer from Arriva. The oddity is that my area is on the SB2/SB3/SB7 routes, not SB1.

    Witness Statement Receipt - Advice

I have used the lifts a few times, with a cycle. They are slow, unlikely to be quicker than the gate line and stairs (where there is the option).

    The 'Rip Off Britain' thread

I recall that one. I was working near one of the original contractor's depots. HGV traffic visiting that depot stopped. The new contractor had ignored warnings from their own staff that they were not fully ready for the new work.
