Basic research? I work with the company.
As I said.. nothing Irishrail does now is independent with the exception of the Enterprise.
The NTA/TFI run absolutely everything.
Oh its the NTA. They run Irishrail. You can chuck an Irishrail logo on it, but its the NTA that really runs the show now.
You need NTA approval and 20 pages of paperwork just to buy a €10 toaster for a staff canteen.

Raheny, space for passing loops on the up and down lines easy...
Another pie in the sky from the NTA.
Not going to happen.
I work that line and the geography makes it almost impossible.
Original plan was for a bi directional third track.
Remember also that there would be duplication of numbers with coaching stock. 34xxx being Mk1 BCKs for example. 41xxx being Mk3 FOs etc.
On a side note, Translink in NI had to add 8000 to all unit/loco numbers at one point because there were cases of trains being allocated to bus services!
I have seen the images on internal platforms (Irishrail).

Even if its done on a DOO basis, there is still a guard. Know many of them. On Irishrail, trains are now dispatched by platform staff at large or rural stations. New CEO.
I work on the 22 sets.(and 29s).
There is a guard on all cross border trains regardless of what type of unit operates it from Connolly.
On IR units, the driver closes the doors.
The guard has no facility on a 22 or 29 unit to close doors. There isn't a door control panel like UK units.
Can do it on a DD set however.
All cross...
The loading gauge is bigger in places. Look at the size of a 201 compared to a Mk3 and the width of a Dart or DD coach.
It is much smaller than mainland Europe obviously.
I like the idea off pairs of coaches. The troubles must still be in people's minds. Makes it easy to swap out coaches in a set.
Technically, if you travel on a Saturday or Sunday in Ireland, it is impossible to travel from Heuston line stations to Connolly stations using only the train.
You could do it in theory Mon-Fri using the Hazelhatch to GCD services.
I think a hearing in Belfast will happen. The RPSI have issues running in the ROI now as they are registered in NI. Recent diesel tour cancelled.

Three track has been put forward. Realistically, four track before Clongriffin isn't going to happen.
You could easily put 3 tracks in the...
