RMT Strike Action - Virgin West Coast

Having read this thread, I am not surprised to see the reaction from the usual suspects on here. I am going to personally message the Mods on here and invite them to withdraw that statement about the RMT being bonkers, especially when you don’t know the full facts from that extremely one sided...

First Trenitalia (Avanti!) WCML branding, naming and livery

depends in the route. I wouldn’t necessarily agree on Brum-Londons for the local commuters to International and especially Cov. You also get a lot at Wigan heading north as it’s still the main interchange point from Liverpool heading north for now, and Preston heading North too. A lot also get...

    Valenta HST Driving Technique

Quite amusing reading this thread. I still thank the railway gods for allowing me to drive these magnificent machines, even if they were absolutely knackered at the time and I was only a trainee. But because of much of the restrictive speeds leaving stations where I worked, I tended to do 2...

Virgin Trains (VTWC) new livery being introduced

Unlikely when it doesn’t exist. Do you mean 001?

Virgin Trains (VTWC) new livery being introduced

there’s still at least 3 out. I’m presuming 154 is in with 155-157 still silver.

    Class 314 Withdrawals

You need a set up like London Underground which can operate ‘depot pets’ and send them out on the occasional jolly. Merseyrail would massively benefit from a similar setup as no doubt the 507s will get a similar finish when the sets retire. A nice run out on their final trip, but ultimately...

First Trenitalia (Avanti!) WCML branding, naming and livery

If you want to be pedantic, it’s also fairly close to the coast at Blackpool too. I’m sure they will come up with something which won’t outrage the interested parties who are involved, regardless of whether it’s served by one a day, one an hour or three an hour. We’re supposed to be here to...

Only in your opinion. Which only counts equal amongst everyone else’s

When were train drivers banned from smoking in the cab?

End of the day, if you smokers want to kill yourselves, that’s fine, fill your boots. Just do it away from the rest of us who don’t want to put up with how bad you stink, and yes, you do stink. You’re no different to someone with bad B.O. or walking past a freshly laid dog turd.

Virgin Diverts between Chester & Crewe

Warrington-Helsby-Chester isn’t a parliamentary service. Every hour now by Northern to Leeds. The ones to Ellesmere Port are though.

Virgin Diverts between Chester & Crewe

In a nutshell it’s because most of us no longer sign via Helsby. Only Preston drivers do. We used to and no longer do anymore.

Trivia: Unusual, bizarre or oddly specific causes of delay

I only realised afterwards. Better when they’re unintentional!

West Coast Partnership: Awarded to First Trenitalia

The roadshows are imminent. Sure the first one is tomorrow.

Trivia: Unusual, bizarre or oddly specific causes of delay

Was going to mention the trampoline until I was beaten to it. A personal favourite of mine is one of our Voyagers getting cancelled because of the fitter getting his hand stuck in a coffee machine trying to fix it. He is an excellent and dedicated fitter which made it all the more funny apart...

Signalling in Chester & Surrounding areas

You mean platforms!? Not stations?! There is a bit of a daft one involving our ECS Voyagers at night where 2 sets go straight after the last VT pass service to Brum. They could couple at at Chester because it has to happen anyway at Crewe, and that platform, if anything. is busier at night, but...
