Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

The non jobs are the marketing, PR, delay attribution, management, consultants, outsourcers, ROSCOs and assorted contract lawyers. Not the guards, dispatchers and stewards. At the end of the day why should I take on liability for drunks and druggies and risk my career because a bunch of...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

I lack insight? Presumably because I am against DOO, as you have not made any sense other than rant on about precisely nothing of relevance for pages and pages, other than it appears that you believe that traincrew who work daily with such systems, and see the realities on the ground and have...

Then I suggest you contact the ORR and tell them that all train drivers who do not back DOO are too stupid to understand anything, and thus are a danger to human life, and should have their licences revoked forthwith.

And you are little more than an ignorant troll who has ignored the postings of various drivers and guards and twisted everything to suit your agenda. You have no idea of how I work, nor my previous railway roles prior to driving - which have been customer facing. How dare you assume that I...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

I have no idea what you do for a living. Would you be prepared to accept more stress in your job, more distractions, a higher risk of abuse / assault and liability for people who act in a blatantly dangerous and / or stupid manner, which could lead to prosecution and imprisonment as well as...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

We have the responsibility for the carriage of those passengers on a moving train. If I go through a red signal or collide with something else due to my own error I am liable. Big difference than the onboard customer service, personal safety, or responsibility for idiotic behaviour on platforms...

The passengers that act in a way which is detrimental to safety often don't pay anyway. The average season ticket holder or peak fare businessman is not the one interfering with the doors / train surfing / abusing people / endangering themselves and everyone else.

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

Tube trains have had multiple incidents with CCTV self dispatch - see the RAIB report. The RSSB bloke spoke a load of corporate waffle with no coherent points, and was roasted by the MPs. He did not put any facts or figures down at all. I am not here to deal with passengers directly, I am here...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

So again how does a driver communicate with passengers on the platform and deal with with them? And the fact that we are continually told that another driver in the cab, the guard / dispatcher / signaller speaking to us is a major distraction, but apparently dealing with passengers is not. The...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

But we are told that this whole debate is a load of militant unqualified railway workers spouting opinions which are not based on fact. Then a former manager who has additional responsibilities and liabilities, and as pro-DOO supporters like to claim, sees a bigger picture than the messroom boys...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/business/driver-only-trains-are-not-safe-warns-former-southern-rail-worker-1-7465773 I think this is from here - and it's not just a conductor but a former safety manager going to the press to point this out.

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

From memory I believe it was always mandatory, then taken out when Pendolinos and the like came in (which the bulk of the time appear to be guard closing the doors, then RA dispatched by platform staff anyway). It could have been around the time of the James Street incident it was put back in...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

I think people can have a look back at your posting history and see for themselves. Where as I may disagree with some users on here, at least they make valid points. You have done nothing of the sort. Trolling would be an apt way of describing your contributions. As for people with management...

Why then is it mandatory for the guard to remain at the door control panel until the train has passed the entire length of the platform?
